JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some people say a cake for sale at a Jacksonville Winn-Dixie bakery is offensive, but others are defending it.

On Wednesday, the cake decorated with a Confederate flag was placed in the center of the display at the Winn-Dixie store on Chaffee Road. It was next to other cakes celebrating birthdays and babies, WJXT-TV reported.

The cake is marked at $18.99, but Richard Bradley said it would cost Winn Dixie his business.

"To me, personally, I think it's disrespectful. I know southerners got their own beliefs, white or black, but I don't like the Confederate flag at all," said Bradley.

The cake doesn't offend everyone. Plenty of people pushed their carts right by the cake and didn't notice.

David Grimes called it freedom of expression through food.

"I feel like it's your free speech. Whatever you want to do," said Grimes.

"This issue was an error in judgment and has been corrected," Winn-Dixie spokesman Robin Miller said in a statement.

Hater.

The cake doesn't offend everyone.

It doesn't offend me but Richard Bradley and his ilk do. I should complain about them and their hatefulness to the ACLU or something.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

They typically look completely dumbfounded as if to say "WTH is a Ft. Sumter."

So true!

It's funny, if you ask people why the Civil War started they'll tell you over slavery.

My response: Oh really. So the Confederacy fired upon Ft. Sumter b/c the troops there said that South Carolina had to end slavery? They typically look completely dumbfounded as if to say "WTH is a Ft. Sumter."

If they figure that out, try telling them that Ft. Sumter was South Carolina's property, which Lincoln's troops shouldn't have been in and stockpiling with arms, that Democrats were the Pro-Slavery party -- not the Republicans, and that the most unusual thing about Slavery in America is it didn't last as long here as practically everywhere else in the world. You might want to have smelling salts handy in case they faint from shock.
