As I think many may already be aware from the article posted a few days ago Righthaven LLC is the outfit that is buying up copyrights from The Las Vegas Review-Journal and then filing lawsuits against any and all bloggers and forums that use the worthless crap from the Review-Urinal.

This is a downloadable Firefox Plug-in that allows you to avoid any and all media owned by Stevens Media - which both eliminates the risk of inadvertently posting any of their fecal matter and also rewards them by ensuring that they get fewer and fewer hits. To the degree that people use this free plug-in it will deprive the Review-Urinal of advertising revenue thus rewarding them for their behavior in an appropriate fashion or as Michael Rivero puts it at What Really Happened:

"We are all aware that Righthaven LLC is suing all websites it can for copyright infringement from Stevens Media. The obvious solution is simply to never read anything from Stevens Media, lest we inadvertently copy something we ought not to. This plugin for Firefox makes sure you never see anything owned by Stevens Media on any of their websites anywhere in the world. Better safe than sorry!

I am sure this will make Stevens Media very happy indeed to know they are permanently safe from ever having any of their materials copied or for that matter even read by anyone ever again anywhere in the world!

Please spread this useful tool everywhere you can. There is also a version for Chrome"

I never heard of Stevens Media before. My guess is they are going out of business and this is a going out of business drive before they close the doors for good. Those that can't adapt and change to a new way of doing business will go the same route until they are all gone.

BTW, you don't need an add on for Firefox to block websites. You can do that easily with your firewall, which will block them for all browsers you use.

I suspect you are probably at least partially correct. As well Righthaven LLC has found a lucrative new way to punish people for becoming informed.

Financier, philanthropist Jackson T. Stephens, 81, dies

Stephens' death brought condolences from well-known figures, including former President Bill Clinton, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Augusta National Golf Club chairman Hootie Johnson.

"Hillary and I are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jack Stephens," Clinton said in a prepared statement Sunday. "I am grateful for the many contributions he made to building Arkansas, and for the warm, personal relationship we developed over the last few years.

"I appreciated his support when he gave it, enjoyed our arguments when we differed, and always found him a fascinating, commanding personality. Our prayers are with his family at the close of his rich, full life."

Johnson said Augusta National had lost a great past chairman and he had lost a personal friend.

"On behalf of the Club's membership I want to express our deepest sympathy to Jack's family," he said.

Stephens was chairman of Stephens Group, Inc., a diversified financial group that operates several companies, including Stephens Inc. and Stephens Media Group, formerly Donrey Media Group. Stephens bought the newspaper company in 1993.

Also in 2003, he gave $10 million to the foundation at the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation, his alma mater, to be used in part to renovate the football stadium. The academy named Jack Stephens Field in his honor.

At various times, Stephens served as a member of the board of directors of Missouri Pacific Railroad, Burlington Northern, Inc., Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Dillard's, Systematics Inc., and the Metzler Corporation, an affiliate of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co., of Frankfurt, Germany.

Jack Stephens served as President and CEO of Stephens Inc. from 1957 until 1986 when Stephens Group, Inc. was formed and became the parent company of Stephens Inc. His son, Warren, assumed the leadership of Stephens Inc. at that time. Stephens became chairman of Stephens Group, Inc. that year, a title he carried for the remainder of his life.
