I ran into this series a couple of days ago and it is a fascinating and well written series. It is both interesting from a modern history perspective, and from the point of view of how our society is manipulated and controlled.

Just to set it up. For those not already in the know Laurel Canyon, in LA, has long been a home to movie stars, writers, and other famous figures. In the 60's it became THE address for many Rock Stars, as well as Charles Manson. It has been the scene of death, debauchery, drug use, and creativity.

For a number of years now I have been hearing, and reading, about how our pop music and surrounding culture has been a tool of control and transformation of the society. I'll leave it to you the curious to decide for yourself. The series is an interesting read just for the historical events and rock and roll history and trivia as well as the inner workings. It works just as an interesting read, but carries deeper implications as to things we have always assumed to be true that are not. It is also quite spooky, in more than one way, when you start sifting through it and evaluating for yourself what the information implies. One word of caution, the series is addictive and I found myself reading through most of it in two evenings.

Inside The LC: The Strange but Mostly True Story of Laurel Canyon and the Birth of the Hippie Generation
Part I
May 8, 2008

"There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear"

"Join me now, if you have the time, as we take a stroll down memory lane to a time nearly four-and-a-half decades ago – a time when America last had uniformed ground troops fighting a sustained and bloody battle to impose, uhmm, ‘democracy’ on a sovereign nation.

It is the first week of August, 1964, and U.S. warships under the command of U.S. Navy Admiral George Stephen Morrison have allegedly come under attack while patrolling Vietnam’s Tonkin Gulf. This event, subsequently dubbed the ‘Tonkin Gulf Incident,’ will result in the immediate passing by the U.S. Congress of the obviously pre-drafted Tonkin Gulf Resolution, which will, in turn, quickly lead to America’s deep immersion into the bloody Vietnam quagmire. Before it is over, well over fifty thousand American bodies – along with literally millions of Southeast Asian bodies – will litter the battlefields of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. ..." and you know that guy David McGowan who did huge amounts of reading & research before he wrote this will get paid zero for writing it. The mainstream corporate media pays lots of money to lots of people for work that is worthless, though mildly entertaining to the air-heads. But for people like David McGowan they are given roadblocks in all directions by that corporate mainstream media. He is out of bounds. and in our society these are the types of people who do the really valuable work.

he did it out of a labor of love. a pursuit of truth for the sake of his nation that he cares for deeply. he'll be punished for it. and most of the rest of us would rather consume something mindless from the lamestream media.

Yes, most of the people trying to tell the truth have been attacked, punished, ruined, and in some cases murdered. All so that a cabal of elite psychopaths can continue down their destructive course of murder, social destruction, and enslavement.

The reality is, and while many will not look, are too afraid to look, are programmed not to look, and otherwise dumbed down so that they are incapable of looking this is the way it is. Our world is literally run by madmen, the insane, who spend a lot of money to keep up the pretense that their sick world view is the "normal" course. The truth of the matter is that it is a path misery, death, and ultimately complete collapse if they don't make the planet uninhabitable before that.

MIND CONTROL IN THE 21st CENTURY by SKYDRIFTER

That was posted by wudidiz in a 9/11 topic. I'm posting it here because there is some discussion of mind control. It is long, like a booklet, was written by a poster here, and has had almost 60,000 views. I haven't read it all but skimmed through it and it is an impressive work. Early on it presents the deceptive Milgrim Experiment as a study of submission to perceived authority to the point of inflicting pain or worse on others by electric shocks. This is an excerpt:

the ‘actor-victim’ requested that the experiment be ended. The ‘teacher’ was consistently told by the experimenter that - "The experiment requires that you continue. Please go on." or verbiage, to that effect. In that scenario, the percentage of ‘teachers’ who were prepared to administer the maximum of 450 volts, dropped slightly [my note: from 65%] - to only 62.5%. Desperate verbiage, versus pounding on the walls, made little difference.

The environment of the experiment was considered, as well. The surroundings of the experiments seemed to cast an "aura of authority," as well. When the environment of the experiment was conducted in a nondescript office building – versus within the walls of a prestigious and ornate hall on Yale's campus - the percentage of ‘teachers’ who were prepared to administer the maximum voltage dropped to 47.5%.

Immediate environment also played a key role, demonstrating the ‘personal’ role of authority "proximity," In one environment, the "experimenter" was at end of a phone line; versus being present in the same room as the ‘teacher. In this scenario, the percentage of ‘teachers’ who were prepared to administer the 450 volt shock dropped to 20.5%. In another scenario, the ‘teacher’ could independently elect the magnitude of the shock level; in that scenario, the percentage of ‘teachers’ who were prepared to continue to the extreme of the scale dropped to 2.5%

The statistics indicate that more independence results in more humane behavior. But they also indicate a direct correlation between higher education, prestige, and cruelty. Even the 20% range is shocking and demoralizing to absorb as reflective of society in general. Suppose, though, that those worrisome stats aren't true -- that they are designed to shock us into despair and mislead us into expecting the worst of the "bourgeoise", for instance, until a smoldering classwarfare is the result. Suppose "The experiment requires that you continue," -- to "Please go on," and question Milgrim himself as a trustworthy authority figure on any of that disheartening statistical imagery. Some food for thought, anyway.

Here is a link to something on the 60's counter-cultural Aquarian Conspiracy. At that site, there are sub- links for easy access to various chapters. A writing by H.G. Wells called The Open Conspiracy: What Are We to Do with Our Lives? is mentioned as a precursor to the Aquarian Conspiracy. H. G. Wells is a Trotskyite-Communist so that's the ideological bottomline on those topics.

I think it's healthy to consider that. To examine all aspects of a topic from different angles. In fact, it can be unwise not to. Can get freaky though. Thinking too much that is.
