In 1994, GOP Leaders managed to release a "Contract with America" just days before voters swept them into office. Establishment types sitting in DC continue to believe that the "Contract" was somehow relevant to their victory. One of us was in the field during that election and can confirm that, at least where we were working, not a single voter had heard of the "Contract." It was a DC thing.
Within hours, the DC GOP Establishment, desperate to show that they "get it," will unveil their new "Contract." They document is out now and is included here.
Our advice to candidates running for office: tell the DC GOP "thanks, but we're going to take it from here on out." They should understand that they have some nice ideas in this document, but it was their leadership that got us to this point. We'll be calling the shots from now on.
Let's not forget that the NRCC and Newt Gingrich once both thought that Dede Scozzafava was the "future of the GOP."
I thought your article was a joke at first. But after uploading the pdf file and perusing the same, it is an admonishment against all responsible and reasonable people.
The GOP are as much to blame for the calamity of and about America as anyone. I won't vote for any GOP/DEM politician as eventually they only follow or swallow their lobbyists on the floors of this nation.
