Pat Tillman died more than six years ago in Afghanistan, but his death remains a flash point to this day. Most recently, Tillman's younger brother Rich discussed the tragedy on "Real Time with Bill Maher."
Tillman was an NFL star who gave up his promising and lucrative career to join the Army in 2002, just months after the September 11 attacks. He died in April 2004 as a result of friendly fire, but a military cover-up initially hid Tillman's true cause of death to promote the narrative that he was killed by enemy fire.
Tillman's family has long been upset about the lies told following his death. In June 2005, Tillman's father passionately condemned an army investigator, writing, "I assume, therefore, that you are part of this shameless bullshit. I embarrassed myself by treating you with respect [on] March 31, 2005. I thought your rank deserved it and anticipated something different from the new and improved investigation. I won't act so hypocritically if we meet again." He later added, "In sum: Fuck you... and yours."
Friday night on "Real Time with Bill Maher," Tillman's brother Richard discussed his brother's death at length. At one point, after explaining the "gross negligence" and "criminal" judgment of the soldiers who fired at his brother, Richard said, "I wish he would've just lit these fucking idiots up with his own gun, you know. 'Cause he knew that they were shooting at him. I wish he didn't have so much character, and he would've shot his own guys."
"I wish he would have been like, you guys are fucking clowns, and just lit 'em up," he added. The Tillman Story, a documentary about Tillman's tragic death, is in theaters now. Scroll down for the full "Real Time" interview.

You may recall that on the day Pat Tillman was killed 2 new guys from General McCrystal's 'special operations' division were transferred in. and for that day the squad was broken into 2 groups who each traveled from the same location and to the same location, but had to travel separately per orders given by an officer in a remote location. Tillman's brother featured in this interview was sent with one group and Pat in the other.
while traveling at night and on the side of a hill a mine went off. Then some US soldiers responded by shooting, but people testified that there were no enemy present at that time. Pat Tillman stood up while the shooting was going on and yelled at people to stop shooting. He said "I'm Pat fucking Tillman" and within a second or so was dead after that. He got 3 bullets to his upper head. No other bullets elsewhere. The doctor said because the bullets were so close together that this came from a shooter within 10 meters away. This is why the doctor put in his report that there should be a murder investigation. They won't tell us which soldier killed Pat Tillman. But I bet it was one of the 2 special ops guys. After his killing the soldiers all got together in a meeting and watched as Tillman's personal things were burned including his clothes and his laptop computer. I think the message to the soldiers must've been crystal clear that the priority of the army was to kill Pat Tillman and if you don't go along, then you could be a target.
and when I heard on the radio that he'd been killed by charging an enemy position I smelled a lie from the beginning.
what do you think Pat Tillman's brother would've done after they killed his brother? He would've killed those 2 special ops guys and you'd have had a squad in active rebellion - like what did happen in Vietnam for some units.
Pat was a naive patriot who believed in the mission and when he realized that things were not as advertised he probably had no clue that once he made it known that he was disillusioned his emails were monitored, and shortly after his days were numbered.
I'm sure you'll agree with me that we don't look down on Pat Tillman for his flaws. We all have flaws. He fell short. but he sacrificed his life in the process. He was one of the better people among us and because of this he was murdered.

I'm sure you'll agree with me that we don't look down on Pat Tillman for his flaws. We all have flaws. He fell short. but he sacrificed his life in the process. He was one of the better people among us and because of this he was murdered.
His flaw was believing in principles that we were taught as children were uniquely American and also universal. (?) (I questioned this even as a child)
My innocence died on a gurney in Parkland Hospital 13 years before Pat was born, and obviously kids born after that were never taught to criticize or even question those who posture as our leaders or who or what they really represent.
I hated to steal my kids' innocence but the truth was/is essential to their survival, especially being of Caucasian Protestant descent and prime fodder for the war mongers' and Israelis' perpetual warfare for real estate, genocide and natural resources. (Not to mention the black crime wave against whites) And, rather than deciding "when they were old enough" I simply told them the truth about everything the first time they asked. (I never told them there is a Santa Claus or "Easter Marmot" only to later tell them the opposite. They have always known that I only tell them the truth as I believe it to be or understand it.)
If Pat was my son he would have never played football, taken steroids or enlisted in the Allied Petroleum Expeditionary Forces or The Proud Patriot Poppy Protection Patrol. The parents who permitted if not encouraged this were either intentionally obtuse or shamefully stupid, but undoubtedly "proud of their athlete-patriot son".
And if Rachel Corrie had been my daughter the odds of her going to Israel would have been about the same as her sleeping in a Sweetwater, Texas rattlesnake roundup cage. She would have been aware of the danger of both despite the fact that the dangers of one aren't advertised, universally understood or popular to speak of in polite company or academia. (Yes Dear, Jewish peepul are really smart and happen to be good in business. I don't really know why so many despise them. Our pastor says it's because they are blamed for killing Our Lord even though it was the filthy ol Romans, {possibly Arabs serving in the Roman Foreign Legion} who did the dirty deed....")
In both of these tragedies it was naive parents who were the likely cause of their children's deaths. And when I hear them speak of how proud they are I have to wonder how many other trusting kids will reach adulthood only to die because their parents suffer from The Gentile Pollyanna Syndrome.
Pat Tilman could have matured into one of our greatest leaders had the slimy Satanic lizards not murdered him in his "crib" shortly after his eyes were opened and he recoiled in horror from the enemy's unmasked visage. And believe me, they knew Pat's potential, too, and someday the enemy will boast about his murder the way some drunken, profane settlers boast about murdering Jesus on You Tube today.

I still have a deep belief that we're all very flawed. and I'm sure you agree with me on that.
Pat Tillman's mother spoke on ESPN and gave the impression that she thought he was murdered even though she didn't say that. Pat Tillman's father wrote a letter to the government and made that letter public where he was pretty accusatory towards a high-ranking army officer and the entire military without actually accusing them of murdering his son. His brother wrote a strong article years ago making it clear that he blamed the government for the whole thing. and we see in this article above that the brother would like to kill the people who killed his brother. He doesn't think it was an accident. The wife of Pat Tillman presents a different image. She never seeks public attention. She tolerates it as required. and she doesn't let people know her political views. But she seems to understand what happened and just wants to move on.
We all respond to challenges differently. Tillman seems to have come from a good family and been a (relatively) good person. He was killed for some of these good qualities.
