Chappell Hill Bank is in its 107th year of continuous operation. Its doors have stayed open to the citizens of Chappell Hill and Washington County all this time, even during the Great Depression.

One might say this is due to “enlightened banking”. That trend appears to continue.

Chappell Hill, Texas, is just east of Brenham, on Highway 290 between Austin and Houston. The tiny downtown area is a step back in time and the bank itself sports the oak and brass of banks from the turn of the 19th century.

But don’t let the antique persona fool you. Today’s small, independent bank has the technology to service accounts and customers around the state, around the country, and often around the world.

What makes Chappell Hill Bank stand out for Texas gun owners is a large sign in gold letters on the bank’s door.

NOTICE
Lawful Concealed Carry Permitted On These Premises Management recognizes the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as an unalienable right of all citizens. We therefore support and encourage the carrying of licensed concealed weapons.

The drive to Chappell Hill is scenic; the bank itself is historic and attractive. The employees are friendly and courteous but Ed Smith the bank’s president is the spark plug behind the sign.

President Smith tells TSRA that the bank has been robbed 5 times in 107 years and he doubts a “no guns allowed” sign would have made any difference.

Now any would-be bank robber should consider the presence of bank security and bank patrons who might not “take too kindly” to a robber and who may also be armed.

Does your home bank encourage your personal safety? You might want to move your accounts to Chappell Hill, Texas.

I once had a bank guard tell me to take my hat off. I told him I was closing my acccount down.

Bureaucrats have no brains. Did he really think taking my hat off would prevent robberies?

The last time that I flew a commercial flight was when the Rent-a-Cretin told me to take off my cap and remove my hands from my jacket pockets.
