A few days I found a notice in my mailbox to pick up a certified letter. Usually that means nothing good for me.

It turns out a place I worked at several years ago was the subject of a year-long Department of Labor investigation, and it was determined I was one of about six people who were owed money. I have no idea why.

The letter eclosed said, "Please keep this confidential," meaning, Please don't contact any of the other workers and tell them about this.

Actually it was for $402, and I don't have the slightest idea how it was determined I was owed money.

So I cashed it and put some in the bank.

First and foremost, I want to congratulate you on your recent unexpected cash reward!

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must presently be a depositor of at least USD $400 in a Nigerian bank which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful.

Please private email [here at 4um] at your earliest convenience. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Nigerian Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.
