Question(s) for some here, and that I'd like to see polled nationally:
Do you currently feel threatened in a significant way, in terms of loss of liberty, by your Federal Government? If so, why?
Think that through. After careful thought and consideration, make a mental note of your answers and then read on...

Now, suppose for a moment that the US:
1. withdrew its military resources/hardware/armies from around the world;
2. built a fence/wall on the US/Mexican border with all of the bells and whistles (that would cost about the same as a single day of war otherwise);
3. reduced the size of its military to bare minimum levels with a reserve system at the ready should there be an attack on our soil;
4. left its Navy to patrol primarily the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico;
5. and left everywhere off of the North American Continent with the exception of embassies;
6. put a good chunk of the military along that southern border, armed and prepared to tackle drug lords and their men like they do civillians in their own homes in Iraq and Afghanistan;
7. and eliminated DHS and TSA and left those tasks to the FBI and simple LE otherwise, and restored Habeus Corpus and the rest of our civil liberties,
... which would cut the budget drastically thereby helping the economic situation,
... would you feel more or less secure and threatened (from any source/threat) than you do now?
Do not forget the answer that you gave yourself at the top!
