She called me "John-John", because I reminded her of JFK Jr. At naptime she gave me backrubs. One day my dad got an anxious phone call from Lilly. "Your son can read!" she said, "What do I do?" "Let him read" my father replied. The neighborhood the preschool was in was racially mixed, but safe. In addition to his job as a lab tech, my dad had a paper route through the area. Paper boys still collected money and carried cash back then. Today, the preschool is long gone. The neighborhood is all black and unsafe for anybody. Mazel Tov!
