Former GOP Rep. Tom Tancredo is gloating over results of a recent poll which indicates that he may indeed become governor of Colorado. A recent Rasmussen Poll revealed that Tancredo was dwarfing the Republican candidate, making the race a contest between Democrat John Hickenlooper and the former GOP Congressman. Tancredo, known for his strict advocacy of immigration control, left the Republicans and switched his affiliation to the Constitution Party in order to run for governor. According to the recent poll, Democrat Hickenlooper is polling at 42%, Tancredo close behind at 38%, with Republican Dan Maes at a mere twelve percent.

Tancredo, in response, mocked the GOP in an interview with the Colorado Independent . Yet he revealed that if elected, he may consider switching back to the Republican party.

Tancredo also pointed out that he didn't vote for George H.W. Bush for Reagan's Presidential ticket as a party delegate in 1980. In the interview, he also discounted the significance of Sarah Palin. This despite the fact that Sarah Palin's book adorns Tom Tancredo's office wall, as revealed by a local TV interview aired earlier this year.

It's very odd that Tancredo would try to distance himself from Palin, since the two actually share a great deal in common and are virtually indistinguishable regarding the policies they espouse. Tancredo, who supported the Iraq war, the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act and Real ID Act while in Congress, advocated the bombing of Islamic holy sites Mecca and Medina to fight 'Islamic Terrorism'.

While both Tancredo and Palin speak at the tea party rallies and advocate a certain number of traditional conservative ideals such as lower taxes, gun rights and respect for the unborn, they also both wholeheartedly endorse the continuation of an empirical foreign policy enacted by the U.S. government for decades. Also, under the guise of 'fighting terrorism' and opposing radical islamic threats, they endorse sanctions against Iran, which amount to nothing more than a precurser towards war, and tyrannical measures at home such as the Patriot Act, and general curtailing of individual liberties.

The Constitution Party , on the other hand, advocates a humble foreign policy 'not entangled in foreign alliances' along with strict adherence to the U.S. Constitution, respecting individual liberties.

This may be why Tancredo is so quick to publicly consider dumping the Constitution Party before the election even occurs, and returning to the party of scoundrels where his heart, and actions, obviously lies.

Writer Jerome Corsi, who is similarly obsessed with Muslim boogeymen allegedly out to kill Americans, was sought out as a Presidential candidate for the Constitution Party in 2008, but ultimately declined to run after briefly considering it. President Obama criticized Corsi personally during the '08 campaign for adhering to 'bizarre, conspiratorial views' regarding the 9/11 attacks. Tancredo himself, perhaps unwittingly, most recently endorsed a 9/11 truther for governor of California.

He shouldn't be dissing the Constitution Party people like that.

No class. I think this actually hurts Tancredo, revealing how disloyal he is to the CP.

i don't think he fits in with their platform anyway. its too bad they seem so eager to accept almost anyone with a known name to be in their party.
