Tea Party ‘founder’: Palin, Gingrich a ‘joke’

karl denninger Tea Party founder: Palin, Gingrich a joke

A financial blogger and ex-CEO credited with being one of the original "founders" of the Tea Party has come out against the movement, saying it has been hijacked by the very people it was protesting and is now obsessed with "guns, gays and God."

In a "message" to the Tea Party Wednesday, Karl Denninger declared that he "ought to sue" anyone who uses the Tea Party name "for defamation."

"Yeah, that's a joke," he writes. "But so are you. All of you. Especially Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, and douchebag groups such as the 'Tea Party Patriots.'"

Denninger writes: "Tea Party my ass. This was nothing other than the Republican Party stealing the anger of a population that was fed up with the Republican Party's own theft of their tax money at gunpoint to bail out the robbers of Wall Street and fraudulently redirecting it back toward electing the very people who stole all the ****ing money!"

Denninger runs Market Ticker, a financially-focused blog that has been strongly opposed to bank bailouts and has railed against excessive government spending. He founded the group FedUpUSA in early 2008, shortly after the collapse of investment bank Bear Stearns. Story continues below... Click here to find out more!

In January of 2009, Market Ticker bloggers including Graham Makohoniuk and Stephanie Jasky suggested "mailing a tea bag" to Congress to protest the planned $800-billion stimulus package and $700-billion bank bailout. Denninger followed that up with a call for a "tea party" protest to coincide with President Obama's inauguration, thus helping to unofficially launch the political movement.

“I saw everybody fawning over Obama with the inauguration and yet here he was appointing people like Larry Summer[s] and Tim Geithner to his team who were all part of creating the problem,” Denninger said in a media interview.

Now Denninger says the whole movement has been steered away from its mission to demand fiscal responsibility from government and financial institutions.

The Tea Party was initiated as a political protest against the unlawful and in fact unconstitutional usurpation of power from the Congress and The People in the form of extortion-led bailouts of enterprises that had engaged in acts that I, and many others, believe were at least civilly actionable and in many cases crossed the line into criminal activity.

This indictment is not limited to the nation's large banks, although it certainly starts there. The corruption of our economic and monetary systems runs the gamut from Fannie and Freddie through their ties to Congress (including literal sexual encounters in some cases), banking interests selling trash securities to everyone from pension funds on down, judges who don't judge but rather protect monied interests on Wall Street, The Federal Reserve intentionally debasing our currency and monetizing government debt, government spending that is running 40% above revenues and much more.

In short, The Tea Party was and is about the the corruption of American Politics and the blatant and outrageous theft from all Americans that has resulted. It is about personal responsibility and enforcement of the law against those who have robbed, financially ****d and pillaged the nation.

Yet today we hear literally nothing about these issues among the so-called "Tea Party" candidates and their backers. Sarah Palin has not said one word about locking up the banksters that brought up on the housing bubble and economic collapse. Not one word about Bernanke's out-of-control Fed and the arguably unlawful monetization of Fannie and Freddie paper, not to mention the monetization of the Federal Debt.

Good article. Yes, the Tea Party has been hijacked by neocons. The grass roots people, like the guy who started it, need to get busy cleaning house.

Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end.

He (Gordon Duff) also implies that forcibly removing Obama, a Constitution-hating, on-the-down-low, crackhead Communist, is an attack on America, Mom, and apple pie. I swear these military people are worse than useless. Just look around at the condition of the country and tell me if they have fulfilled their oaths to protect the nation from all enemies foreign and domestic.

This should be no surprise to anyone, as Palin and Newtie are both knee padding Israel firsters.

Seems to be a requirement for any US office higher than City Clerk.

We are not going to be able to solve our problems until this monster from Zion is excised from our society.

Third party movements, if they gain much steam, are always absorbed by one or both of the major parties.

I think Denninger is marginal anyway. He writes and talks like a kook. And his founding role in Tea Party will come as a surprise to most Tea people who have never heard of him.

The most egregious knee padder of the past was Fred Thompson, he threw his hat in the ring on Monday and on Tuesday was on an El Al flight to Tel Aviv to see the Pope and ask their blessing, on bended knee of course.

That was an embarrassment and an indictment of American politics.

unfortunately the same thing happened to the democrats between the 2006 & 2008 elections in that many democrats sincerely wanted to use their votes to pull back the war policies of our government. It was really about 90% of the people who voted for Obama and the democrats in those elections who wanted to pull back the troops, cut military spending dramatically, etc. The common ordinary people like this do not support the federal reserve if they understood it. They also are lied to by their leaders.

Throughout most of the nation your typical sincere anti-war democrat voter cannot even find an anti-war candidate to vote for.

the military & intelligence functions were built up for our defense (they tell us) and what actually happened is they got so powerful as to take our country over from the inside and defend the government from us (we the people).

I feel cheated.

He could have at least called them racist.

I don't think the Tea Party had anything to do with John McCain reelection in Arizona.

tea party people are very arrogant. they do not comprehend that most democrat voters want smaller government also. tea party people don't seem to comprehend that opposition to the wars and the police state expansions of government power are key. you spout off for 'small government' and you support the wars at the same time, it is a disconnect from reality.

you remember when this first started, every Republican politician who showed up at the Tea Party meetings was resoundingly BOO'ed. it's just too damned bad the people have allowed it to be highjacked.

Good article. Yes, the Tea Party has been hijacked by neocons.

I've said from the beginning that the jews, through their neocon servants, are working day and night to make the Tea Party 'kosher'. It's almost complete. When Chris Matthews announces that the Tea Party has finally come around to mainstream thinking, you'll know that it's a done deal.

Sen. Cornyn booed at Capitol "tea party"

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn drew boos from a crowd outside the Texas Capitol this afternoon as he spoke at a “tea party” rally organized by the Texas office of Americans for Prosperity.

Cornyn was booed at the start and close of his remarks, which assailed actions in Washington; there were no boos while he awarded a Purple Heart to a Copperas Cove resident injured in Iraq in 2006.

“You’re the problem,” a crowd member hollered.

Another crowd member yelled that Cornyn voted for the initial federal bailout of Wall Street approved by Congress last year, the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Cornyn was the first elected official to speak, though Gov. Rick Perry and others are expected to have turns. UPDATE, 4:04 p.m.: Perry drew scattered boos, notably from crowd members aware of his advocacy of toll roads to relieve traffic congestion.

Cornyn, a Republican elected to his second Senate term last year, said before today’s gathering that he wasn’t sure what kind of reception he’d field.

“I don’t yet know exactly what it’s going to be like,” Cornyn said Wednesday.

He said he’d agreed to “come and talk about my belief that local government including state government is closest to the people and more likely to be responsive to their needs. And we’ll see how it goes.

“What do you think?” he asked a reporter. “You think it’s going to be OK? I’m waiting to see.”

“I didn’t want to come some place that I wasn’t wanted.”
