ok, i understand and agree with pretty much everything you said except that the democrat politicians were fully aware of the agenda and were complicit. otherwise, why didn't they raise holy hell enmasse? the same argument could be said of legislation that the dems (when it's their turn) push through with hardly any opposition from the republicans. they take turns playing good guy/bad guy. that's the reason we need to get rid of the incumbents. that's got to begin somewhere. if it's a failure (i expect it will be), what have we lost by trying this cycle when so many are up?

Oust was NOT possible in either case by civil means, oust was possible only thru assassination.

Akin to 1940 and now. Americans were in love with Roosevelt, he was our savior...until the day he sprung the draft on us, then millions of people knew they had been swindled, that war was coming.

I do NOT recall in my time a President that actually sought a smaller government. As for the most inept President, the laurels go to Obama, a man totally in over his head, made president solely because he is black.

Apparently Obama was happy with all that tyrannical stuff Bush got passed because he hasn't said anything about dispensing with any of it. Only things that have been dispensed with is the rule of law, American pride and place in the world. Now we have a dictator instead of a president. Make no mistake, when any man has the power to have another man arrested and put in prison indefinitely without a trial that is beyond the legitimate powers of the president.

My Father was anti Roosevelt from day one. Few would discuss politics with him, until the draft and war came into being, then it was amazing how so many people had been anti Roosevelt from day one.

When their kids had to march off to war, they paid attention, but only after it was too late.

My Grandfather was pro Roosevelt, until the age limit was raised to 65 and he had to register for the draft. He turned anti FDR that day.

Men were drafted up to age 39 before the end of the war. I had two Uncles that were just shy of 39 that were drafted.

The age was raised to 65 for two reasons, flush out more bodies and if need be men would be drafted to work in factories. However so many women were willing to work that it did not become necessary. My Grandfather was born in 1878 and had to register

One could volunteer at 16. Some lied their age, the youngest being 12 years olde.

Prior to that the Supreme Court had ruled twice it was unconstitutional to forbid hiring of children.
