I truly enjoyed this man while he lived. He died in 2005. he had 10,000 hours of archives and 10,000 different opinions of him.
I seem to remember Scott going off on a myriad of seemingly distracting tangents, relative to the core teachings of Scripture, when I was younger. I also seem to recall him, whether correctly or not, being one of those guys asking for money.
I don't know that I ever believe all of anything that anyone says.
I've listened to at least a thousand hours of Gene Scott's talks. I have even written him in disagreement on one particular topic that I was proven more correct than Scott, and have yet a chance of being completely correct. That is, if Christ returns while the Stone of Scone (Destiny/Liafail) resides in Scotland. (That's another subject but I wanted to point out that I don't have to agree with someone elses opinion to enjoy the discussion or debate).
As far as the money thing goes, Scott generally asked for support only from those that felt they had learned something from his talks. There were times when he sought donations and I tuned him out if he got on my nerves.
I generally viewed his FREEEEEEEEEEE ARCHIVES, which his wife/widow has taken off of the internet. Scott was his own man. I liked that about him. He was an excellent story teller with a tremendous sense of humor that could make complicated subjects easy to understand.
He was a guy that asked people to "think". He had a very charismatic personality but seemed to offend quite a few others.
Personally, I enjoyed many hours with Dr. Scott. I have never let my opinion of someone be adversely affected by what others say or rumor about. Many are envious when someone else enjoys success, especially if they make it LOOK easy.
Scott was on air 24/7/365 and broadcast to the entire world. Many of whom had no ability to help finance him.
I have no knowledge of Tilton. I don't listen to preachers on TV (I don't watch TV).
I miss Dr. Scott and see his demise as a real loss. He could have done anything he wanted to do, and I suppose that's just what he did !!!
He commented that some people are possessed by God just like others are possessed by satan ... meaning that sometimes God just decides your going to be His regardless of your human tendancies to sinning.
I so agreed with his point because it seems to have happened to me despite my affection for sin.
