Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has hit the headlines after he was rushed to Centila Hospital in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, Oct 24.
Website TMZ reports that the 61-year-old bassist, reality TV star and sometime actor cut his head after fainting at LAX airport. Doctors at the hospital concluded Simmons was suffering from dehydration and released the star the following day. Reports that LAX was "hotter than hell" at the time of the incident remain unconfirmed.
The hospitalisation occurred just days after two of Simmons' websites, genesimmons.com and simmonsrecords.com, were closed down by a shadowy group of Internet users called Anonymous who carried out a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on them.
The Irish Times reports that the group -- who are opposed to to anti-piracy sites -- responded to Simmons' call at the MIPCOM 2010 conference in Cannes, France that business people should take legal action to protect their brands and not make the same mistakes as the music industry.
Refusing to -- ahem -- hold his tongue, Simmons fumed, "Sue everybody -- take their homes, their cars. Don't let anybody cross that line."
He added that the music industry "didn't have the balls to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded material."
Simmons has now threatened the group with legal action and the FBI
