The public health nurse is pressuring us to get our 15 month old vaccinated.

I'm against it. My wife is on the fence. Of course the nurse is all for it.

Does anyone know of any very good, credible, concise, clear, succinct, convincing documents or websites I could download and print to show my wife and ones to show the nurse?

HEALTH CANADA STATEMENT ON IMMUNIZATION "Unlike some countries, immunization is not mandatory in Canada; it cannot be made mandatory because of the Canadian Constitution. Only three provinces have legislation or regulations under their health-protection acts to require proof of immunization for school entrance. Ontario and New Brunswick require proof for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella immunization. In Manitoba, only measles vaccination is covered. It must be emphasized that, in these three provinces, exceptions are permitted for medical or religious grounds and reasons of conscience; legislation and regulations must not be interpreted to imply compulsory immunization. "

Vaccine exemption forms can be obtained from your local health department. Ask for form #2. This needs to be filled out, and notarized and given to your child's school. Parents are advised to retain a copy for their own files, as schools often lose the forms, and the process then has to be repeated. i also agree with what someone said above. don't argue w/ the nurse and make it personal, . that gives her power. know your rights, know what you want, and 'inform' her. not ask. not doubt. be sure not to let them know that your wife is undecided. they love playing families against each other.
