Title: John Boehner says NO to earmarks

I felt this needed it's own thread since the noise on GDT Raw Story report would have been impossible to break through.

Raw Story

Below are two articles that contradict his posting. Both are dated 11/5/10, and the first is written by Boehner himself. It's hard to believe he would go on Fox, Thursday, 11/4, state what GDT reports, and then author the WSJ article the next day. Let me say all these "leaders" need close watching, but I suggest we get things right before we jump the gun.

I have no idea what report(s) are correct at this moment, and if Raw Story is indeed more accurate that the WSJ, the Republican Party will blow a large hole in it's foot, thus allowing Tea Party folk to fully separate from the vehicle they used to carry them into congress.

I suggest we read the articles, and put the rope back in the closet until we know more.

Poster Comment: • No earmarks. Earmarks have become a symbol of a broken Washington, and an entire lobbying industry has been created around them. The speaker of the House shouldn't use the power of the office to raid the federal Treasury for pork-barrel projects. To the contrary, the speaker should be an advocate for ending the current earmark process, and should adhere to a personal no-earmarks policy that stands as an example for all members of Congress to follow

I have maintained a no-earmarks policy throughout my time of service in Congress. I believe the House must adopt a moratorium on all earmarks as a signal of our commitment to ending business as usual in the spending process. *******

They should "suspect" they're going to be watched closely! Who knows if they do.. But a tally sheet after a year will start showing whether a Third Party is going to have to be started using the TEA Party as the core.

Agree. They're on a very tight probation. It won't take much for the Tea Party folk to gather, split, and leave them in the dust. Since they don't take office until January, I think it's a bit premature to begin to declare a victory a failure, but as you say, we will be watching.

Jerthro, some of those here are doing everything they can to attack the Tea Party. Facts be damned for them.

And this last election the third party/write-in ballots were rinos.

For decades the rinos used the excuse that rank and file republicans should not use third parties, and instead work within the party. Then, last primary, when the Tea Party did just that and won, it showed the hypocrisy of the rinos.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the obvious, Paul. These folks won't arrive in Washington until January, yet the demonetization has begun. No more. Lets see what develops, and when and if they eff up, we'll be their harshest critics.

JT - I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the obvious,

This forum has become a sounding board for democrat shills, losers and malcontents.

We need to clean house. There are at least 4 posters here that belong at DU or the nest, we all know who they are. Who will have the courage to show them the door? It's not a "free speech" issue, it's defending yourself from propaganda attacks from the left and those who benefit from it.

The Tea Party has a chance to reclaim this country over the next few cycles, we don't need some RAT stooges muddying the waters before a single one of our people are sworn in.

Show them no mercy, just show them the door.

There are plenty of forums out there where one can defend the leftist/democrat/progressive road to a euro-peon surf state, do you want 4um to be one of them?

I have only see one person do this and that is Red Jones. But then I am unable to visit f4um as much as I used to so I miss a lot.

Do you want to try to sabotage and stifle the Tea party movement, promote prejudice in the minds of lurkers before good men like Rand Paul and Allen West have even taken office?

I do not believe that being skeptical of the Tea Party movement is sabotaging and/or stifling the Tea Party movement. I have not forgotten the actions of the Republican Party during the time they had complete control of Congress. As far as I could tell tea Party candidates ran on the exact same platform as their Republican counterparts - small government, less taxes and perpetual war. As I've stated previously, I do not believe that it is possible to have small government and perpetual war. I also believe it is fiscally irresponsible as well as unsustainable to have tax cuts while continuing to spend like drunken sailors on perpetual wars and entitlements.

Having said that, I will wait patiently and see what happens (as if I have a choice LOL). Maybe my skepticism will be shown to be misplaced. I would like that.

Are you so selfish and jealous that you are mad that the first real change to come to America since the civil war comes through the Republican Party and not some 2% of the vote third party that you advocate obstructing it?

Are you so forgetful that you do not remember this same sort of shit was said in 1994 and 2000?

The Tea Party represents the true green shoots of a reclaimed America, let us not block it's sunlight while it is still taking roots.

Voicing skepticism and pointing out double-talk isn't blocking sunlight. I have voiced legitimate questions concerning the views of Tea Party candidates. Questions not being addressed by the government's propaganda news channels or talking heads.

It will, especially if we all work together.

1994 and 2000

Last Tuesday was far more historic than 94. Our candidates are much more "enlightened" now, the tricks used in 94 to defeat us won't work again.

You do realize that the newbies are still greatly outnumbered by the members of the status quo don't you?

If you recall, years ago when many newbies ran on term limits platform and won?

The majority as soon as they got entrenched disavowed term limits.

Not true. Guys like Mark Sanford kept their word. He went on to become Governor of SC
