I did a search on him and found out some stuff I didn't know (like how old he is [76]), but nothing about what he is doing these days.

Another way to look at it, a way that I have come to embrace, is that youth is wasted on young folks. Don't you wish you could go back now to 20 or thereabouts and know what you know now?

I took my chances, and made my choices.

It wouldn't be worth it to do it all again, even with hindsight.

I don't think so. Usually stuff like that can be found and I never found in any of the searching I did that he had died. As much of a public figure as he was I believe some mention would have been made of it.
