I wonder if it is a nuclear powered one? Just the way it propels itself, I've heard of that method before - a spacecraft being propelled by external nuclear explosions. Anyway, it doesn't specify how the external explosions occur in the above clip.

The way it was envisioned in Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's book "Footfall" was a large semi-sperical shield under the ship and then the bombs ejected like pellets to explode and propel the ship forward.

However, as fancy as it looks at first glance it is still a primitive reaction driven spacecraft. Not very elegant.

I just noticed I happen to have this in an ebook archive. I might have to finally read it. Thanks.

You're welcome. It's a good read. You'll notice Robert Heinlein showing up as a character in the book, but I won't give away how and where.

Also try Pournelle's "King David's Spaceship."
