Title: Celente Supports TSA "Groper" Procedure Proposes "Happy Ending" Policy Change

KINGSTON, NY, 17 November 2010 - As opposition to full-body X-ray scanners mounts among aircraft crews and passengers, Gerald Celente,Trends Journal publisher proposes a realistic and rational solution.

With ample evidence indicating that repeated exposure to doses of radiation poses a health risk, and with naked-body scans clearly violating personal privacy, many are opting out for the personal pat-down alternative.

"I am one of those frequent flyers that will opt-out for health concerns," said Celente. "The government's assurance that the scanners are completely safe is alone enough to convince me that they are dangerous.

"Moreover, the fact that full-body scanners were promoted by former Homeland Security Czar Michael Chertoff as the 'most effective means of detecting hidden explosive devices' further raises my suspicions," Celente said. Following last year's Christmas Day "Underwear Bomber" episode, Chertoff who had left Homeland Security to open his own consulting firm spent the holiday season making the media rounds loudly championing the scanners while keeping quiet about his firm's contract with Rapiscan, their manufacturer. (Furthermore, it was established that the bomber could not have ignited the device with matches or the syringe of accelerant in his possession. Only an electronic detonator or "extreme heat" could have set it off.)

"In other words," said Celente, "the entire flying public is being subjected to either radioactive contamination or gross privacy invasion so that Chertoff & Co. can make a profit out of these pernicious machines. The pat-down option, an already invasive procedure, has been dramatically upgraded by the TSA into a flagrant full-body grope. Making the pat-down so gross is designed to encourage people to go through the scanners rather than get felt up by strangers. It is my contention that this degrading and disgusting practice is about selling machines, not about ensuring security.

The "Celente Solution": Just as the Government invariably gets everything else wrong, its grope-the-public strategy is upside-down and inside-out, contends Celente.

"As a strictly heterosexual, if I'm going to get groped in an airport be it in public or private I want to be groped by a gal. Period! And, ideally, I would like to choose my groper. Does the TSA have a 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy," he asks? "What twisted TSA/government bureaucrat put in place this guy-gropes-guy policy? Or are they covertly fostering homosexuality by forcing men to be felt up by other men all under the guise of security?"

Celente readily acknowledges that his "solution" is male-oriented. "I'm speaking only for myself and on behalf my guy friends," said Celente, "not for women. They'll have to find their own solution."

Until some such solution is found, citizens of the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" are going to be subjected to either radiation poisoning or sexual humiliation.

Trendpost: Celente says the TSA policy is trend-significant. As it stands, it will serve to discourage air travelers, which will take a toll on the slowly recovering business travel and tourist industry.

Holiday destinations within driving distance will attract vacationers who refuse to be scanned or groped. And America's airport security practices, already under attack by foreign nations as unnecessary and draconian, will further discourage international travelers.

Not at all... BTW, how often do you use the publick transportation system in CONUS while flying? I use it all the time. Its nothing new for frequent flyers, pal.

I don't think Celente knows his ass from a hole in the wall..... if you notice the article, it falls outside his normal "the sky is falling mantra" from the point of view that this stuff is just happening. He is obviously losing acclaim at his own website. I have seen this same crap since 2001. So what is new?

A line of personal indignity is being crossed, and Dems, Repug, and Indies are all together for once. The rest of the world is laughing their asses off at us. They are going to have to find a vagina terrorist now to pull this one off. Probably working on it already.

All these stinkin' terrorists are on our payroll.

How about the corksoaker that lit off his underwear? He was escorted onto the plane by some asshole with a suit and a badge who intervened with the supervisor at the gate to get him on the plane without a passport.

We're being scammed, and they'll do it again soon. They have to. We're catching on and they have to put the scare into us again.

It's disgusting.

At this stage, I suspect the serious bombers will resort to more sophisticated and near foolproof methods. Let us waste our money on a false sense of security.

Much bigger and better targets are available than a planeload of expendable people. Expendable? Yes because standing orders are for a shoot down of any "suspected" threat.

There are far too many more important targets.

I wouldn't doubt. Given that the last crotch bomber was escorted on and around security by a man dressed in a nice suit it will be like the other supposed attempted bombings - an incompetent intelligence agency puppet on a string.

How about the corksoaker that lit off his underwear? He was escorted onto the plane by some asshole with a suit and a badge who intervened with the supervisor at the gate to get him on the plane without a passport.

Look at this happy face.....

ABC News Monday night released government photos showing the ripped and charred beige underpants the 23-year-old Nigerian wore on his failed mission.

The pictures showed the singed 6-inch-long plastic container containing the powerful powder explosive PETN and a melted syringe Abdulmutallab used in an ill-fated effort to ignite the device.

Abdulmutallab told officials terror bombmakers sewed the explosives into the crotch of his underwear before he got on the plane in Nigeria.

He later connected in Amsterdam to the Detroit-bound flight, which arrived on Christmas Day. He tried to use the syringe to set off the deadly device as the jet prepared to land, but it failed to detonate.

The stunning pictures also show how stopping wanna-be terrorists like Abdulmutallab is difficult to do.

A lone operative like Abdulmutallab may not be capable of repeating the complex 9/11 attack, but taking down a jetliner, such as Northwest Airlines Flight 253, with nearly 300 people aboard, would be a devastating accomplishment after all the billions spent for air security.

Al Qaeda remains "absolutely" focused on "spectacular" strikes intended to match or outdo the carnage of 9/11, said one U.S. counterterror official. Still, Al Qaeda "wouldn't discourage a smaller attack."

It seems the terror group's Yemen branch or its allies gave the recent Nigerian recruit a Terrorism for Dummies crash course and an unproven underwear bomb and sent him on his way, hoping for the worst.

Despite major successes killing top Al Qaeda leaders over the past year, it's still hard to detect and thwart a single terrorist with Abdulmutallab's bland profile.

"There is a line of thinking that we have so interrupted Al Qaeda's capability that they can't get anything together other than a singular act like this," another counterterror official said.

That's little comfort. An airliner bombing would still be devastating, and security officials can't count on the luck - a faulty bomb, a hero passenger - that thwarted the Christmas Day plot.

"The well-coordinated 9/11-style attack may not be as viable now as a 'lone wolf' type of individual" who wages jihad on his own after getting some training or expertise, an official said.

Much remains unknown about Abdulmutallab's contacts with extremists during the time he spent in Yemen from August to this month.

It appears he had few if any co-conspirators as he traveled home to Nigeria and through Amsterdam to Detroit.

Bah! yourself. I would expect Libertarians and Indies to be most vehemently against groping or scanning. But, having your personal body space invaded tends to be disliked by all. The "CBS Poll" travelling the internet shows Republicans tend to accept the intrusion the best. A greater shift would likely be noted for women versus men with women hating it more.

Where were they over the past nine years, since 2001? Waving signs, "don't tread on me with the Gadsden flag" at fundraisers and street corners?

I think this is beneficial to all of us in a way. A lot of people are pissed and rightfully so. The TSA and the DHS are going to have a hard time selling the idea of scanners. Great...unless you travel on planes. In the longrun, most people will give up and submit. But, this process is invasive and demeaning and it makes us question the process of giving up freedom for security. The government move toward tyranny works best when slow and subtle (i.e. boiling frog). Grabbing crotches is not subtle.

I fully believe that that "safety" of the scanners is doubtfull. This is one of those trust us we are the government issues. There is no level of safe XRay radiation. I also worry about number of doses. Pilots and people who travel many times a year are going to be exposed to a lot more radiation. They have a right to rebel. The people who opt out and get searched are frequently experiencing a feeling of molestation. Not everyone, but a significant number have great difficulty allowing their personal space to be invaded depending on personality, cultural background, experience, sex, et cedera. I'm sorry you have to travel a lot. Can anyone prove that all this money spent, time spent, anger, and discomfort will prevent significant terrorism.

I just hope this is one battle Michael Chertoff and his ilk lose.
