When I walk my pug Wilson I pick up aluminum cans hoosiers thrown out of their pick-up trucks into people's yards and on the street. They're almost always Bud Light and Pepsi. That favorite beverage of hicks, apparently.

I collected so many in the last seven days I took them to the recycling center five minutes away and they gave me $8.35. Usually I average about five dollars a week, or about $250 a year. Just for walking my dog and cleaning up the environment.

It's free gas money, courtesy of hicks drinking Pepsi and Bud Light.

I find these cans in people's front yards every day.

Oh, so Turtle tip toes, which means trespasses, on private property to "find" recyclables from his unsuspecting neighbors. Note to neighbors: Hide the pink flamingos, especially if they are made of recyclabes.

Around here, folks get arrested for cleaning out the recycle bins left on the curbs.

Where I am now people come around and pick up what is left outside to be recycled too but they are poor and desperate. No one thinks anything of it and certainly the cops have better things to do.

I only know of this because a couple of poor people living in the cheap communal apartments nearby asked me to bag up the cans and plastic bottles and set them beside my plastic recycle boxes so that they wouldn't get arrested for taking them. Now I bag it up for them on a regular basis. I don't want them to be harassed for recycling and making a little bit of money off of what Waste Management takes for free.

This is an example of the Waste Management monopoly buying members of the city council off and initiating the criminalization of folks trying to recycle.

Good for you.
