ILLEGAL ALIENS COST BILLIONS SAYS REPORT

By Mike Blair October 3, 2005 American Free Press

There are currently at least 20 million illegal aliens living in the United States, costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars for social services, police protection and medical care. Not to be overlooked are the dozens of state and federal agencies that have been created to deal with this growing problem.

According to Diana Mull, president of Californians for Population Stabilization and an expert on immigration, the number of undocumented migrants in the United States is currently more than the entire population of New York State. It is larger than the combined populations of Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire and New Mexico.

Using figures recently cited in a report by the investment-banking firm of Bear Stearns, Mull says that as many as 3 million illegal aliens are entering the U.S. annually and the number is growing. Unchecked illegal immigration is damaging the U.S. economy and putting millions of Americans out of work.

And yet, President Bush adamantly refuses to do anything to stop illegal aliens from entering the United States.

Bear Stearns’s statistics are in stark contrast to U.S. Census Bureau figures. Census numbers have been assailed as grossly underestimating the problem, primarily because most illegals chose not to report their presence to a census taker.

The banking and securities firm’s research was compiled from a number of sources, including incidences of border crossings, foreign remittances, housing permits, school enrollments and language proficiency programs.

The report, compiled by researchers Robert Justich and Betty Ng, concludes that the sheer numbers of illegals in America will be of “major significance” in the nation’s future.

It is estimated that local, state and federal agencies are paying out more than $30 billion annually to provide illegal aliens with such services as education, law enforcement and health care.

In addition, the money being paid to foreign workers “under the table” is costing the nation as much as $35 billion annually in lost tax revenue, which must be made up by those that report their income and pay their taxes.

According to the financial publication, W Magazine, which extensively covered the Bear Stearns report, “The best guess as to the size of the output of this shadow economy is about $970 billion annually,” paid “under the table,” which, if taxed, could erase the nation’s current budget deficit.

Why have the Bush and previous administrations not made any meaningful efforts to bring this population invasion to a halt?

The answer could be found in part in the conclusion of Ms. Hull—that this large underground work force, estimated to be accounting for 8 percent of the nation’s workers, or 12 to 15 million U.S. jobs, “contributes to a skewed economic view, helping news look rosier, including government productivity reports that may be reflecting the outputs but not the complete picture on labor inputs.”

This, Ms. Hull states, inflates the “often-touted high productivity numbers in the United States,” making the administration look good in the national media and, thus, hoodwinking the dollar-bled U.S. taxpayers.

The cost of supporting the illegals is devastating, as one example illustrates.

Wages to cheap alien workers have actually decreased the average annual earnings of all Americans by as much as 6 percent.

Says Ms. Hull: “[T]he short-term benefits of cheap labor—like any purported free lunch—have a steep price for Americans pushed out of the work force and for taxpayers who pick up the billions of dollars in taxes unpaid by the underground economy.”

Across America, illegal aliens occupy subsidized housing, which is intended to house poor American citizens. But illegals, who report no income, are occupying apartments, paid for by Housing and Urban Development or the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service to the tune of hundreds of dollars a month.

In many cases illegal aliens, who are being paid under the table, receive additional money in federal food stamps. In some areas, the gang violence and drug trafficking has increased as a result of illegal immigration. Today, some police departments are actually picking up illegal aliens, driving them to the nearest bus station, and then buying them tickets to go somewhere else, just so local law enforcement will not have to deal with them anymore.

Consider the current state of affairs in America’s most populous state, California.

In the past 40 years, the Golden State’s population has doubled, virtually all of which is due to immigration.

Thanks - sometimes these things come to me.

It is time for those of us who have the time, energy, and resources, to contribute in whatever manner we can to flush out the commode that has become our country.

And I mean from the illegal smirk, all the way down to the illegal senor.

Fuck them all.

They have never contributed anything, and it is time for them to leave.

I feel the same way, but our government argues that they are doing the jobs the Americans don't want. I can't figure that out because carpentry, brick work, and road work used to keep alot of American families going. Now whenever I pass a road construction going on, I see a few Americans, but mostly Mexicans, working at these sites. The same goes for housing construction. My brother has been a brick mason all of his life and my husband is a carpenter. Not only have their wages fallen but they can't seem to get the good jobs anymore. Larger companies with massive illegal immigrant employees now underbid my brother's company, causing my brother to lose once well-paying contracts. We can't let this go on any longer. We need to fight to stop illegal immigration and get the illegals deported and the companies who hire them fined out the ass! Join the fight, I did at http://www.alipac.us

Diving Into The Third World

Why is it anti-semitic to recognize the counterproductive nature of an alliance with Israel that emboldens them to recklessly oppress Palestinians? Why is it anti-semitic to criticize the spending of US taxpayer money to shore up a garrison state which commenced its existence by "displacing" Palestinians, to the Chagrin of Arabs who are thereby motivated to attack U.S. citizens?

Exactly correct.

Right here, there's a massive water-work project going on and there is NOT ONE black or white on this city-paid (read my tax dollars) project.

This is aiding and abetting a felony by employing these illegal alien criminals.

It's not just people who are directly replaced in the job market, but everyone who pays taxes. Their "workers" are using the schools, hospitals, roads, police, prisons...that the rest of us have to pay for. I don't blame the illegals themselves, I blame the sleazy rat bastards that hire them and the two or more faced politicians who let them get away with it.

Thank you for the welcome, Christine! And you are exactly right! Until the crap hits home, no one seems concerned about the problem. Well, I have news for some of these big contractors out there(you know, the ones who are hiring illegals instead of American citizens), the illegals are now starting up their own companies! I was not surprised the other day when I drove by a house that was being painted by Mexicans, what shocked me, though, was the sign on the van they were driving. It said something like "Rodriguez and sons Painting", a hand painted sign, but none the less, they are branching out on their on. Once the illegals learn the carpentry skills, the brick mason skills, etc., they are going to start their own business. Why wouldn't they? After all, the contractors who hire them do so at very low wages. If the illegals can make a few more bucks and underbid the big contractors, who are they gonna choose to do the work? Of course, the lower bid will win. It will come back to haunt the rich, greedy bastards who have put American citizens out of work, just to hire illegals in order to put more money in the rich man's pocket. And even though I hate to say it(well, not really, hehe)I will be the first to laugh at the rich contractor. After all, he trained the low wage illegals, now they are planning to take a big piece of that pie for themselves!

You are absolutely right, Dakmar! It seems like the little man pays for everything now. In the next election, I am voting for candidates based on one issue: CLOSING OUR BORDERS and DEPORTING ILLEGALS. I would also like to see employers fined heavily for hiring illegals. Mr. Tom Tancredo, a Colorado congressman, hopefully will run for president in the 2008 elections. This is the MAN as far as I am concerned, to stop illegal immigration. He supports the views of Jim Gilchrist(Minuteman Founder, and one of my heros). Visit his website at http://www.recruittom.com and click on "Immigration Reform Caucus". I believe this man will get the job done. Our current president seems blind to the problem. Also check out http://www.alipac.us/ for more information on this HUGE problem we Americans are faced with!

I live in rural Pa. and the local counties are appointing extra Judges because we're being swamped with the illegal criminal element. No area is immune. People need to wake up but our local rag just encourages more of it with "Diversity is our Strength' campaigns and all that other happy P.C. horseshit.

The locals read their feature stories and editorials and get all ga-ga about it.

We're screwed.

I totally understand, Dakmar. I started out in the beginning, backing Bush and the war. Now, I am upset with how long this mess is going on. I was expecting a quick, "kick butt and get back home". So much for idea that, however. But, as far as our saftey here on American soil, Tancredo, I believe, WILL protect us. Some don't know it yet but there is a war in our homeland. Alot of the Mexicans say we "stole" their land and they want it back. If their numbers keep rising here in the USA, they just might take over! As I watched Hannity and Colmes report on the border situation the other night, I was overwhelmed by the numbers of illegals crossing our border! Sean Hannity sat on the border with the BP and aired his show from there. Thousands of lbs of drugs are seized at the border, and who knows how much gets across? Not to mention the criminals, rapists, child molesters, murderers, etc. I agree that our troops need to come home. We may need them here before long if our borders continue to stay wide-open! I do not like American soldiers losing their life over there in Iraq when we all know that those people will not change their ways. The fighting amongst themselves(the middle eastern peoples) will continue as it as done for thousands of years.

I have been personally affected for the last two years by Bush's policies, but it has nothing to do with illegal aliens, but rather legal visa holders coming to take jobs that supposedly companies can't find Americans to do, not to mention the Bush administration’s embracement of offshore outsourcing. So, even if they made these work visas illegal, without enforcement it would do about as much good as the problem we have now with illegal aliens.

God is always good!
