They gotta be shitting me. A remake of True Grit? How can any man expect to out play the Duke as Rooster Cogburn? Has Hollywierd lost its mind?

No problem. But my thought stands. John Wayne may not have been a great actor but there was simply something compelling about him that connected. He came across as the kind of man every other man aspires to be leather tough, yet a kind soul, women loved him, and nobody's fool. One of a kind. There are just not enough real men who are like that.

I think you just swerved inadvertently into the truth. They are killing John Wayne is what they're doing. The John Wayne model of manhood is the target. That is why the critics hate Lucas and the Star Wars films - they promote the older style of real manhood - strong, courageous, standing in defense of what is right. The people running Hollywood now want to kill that vision of manhood. It's a PsyOp.

it is a common ordinary thing that businesses in the pursuit of profit make decisions that do great harm to others. and it is a common defense of these businesses that if it was done for profit, then it was OK. genetically modified food for example. I'l agree with you, angK, that Jeff Bridges is a better actor: The Last Picture Show, K-PAX, Seabiscuit, Starman, Tron, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, The Big Lebowski, etc., he's portrayed a wider range of characters than John Wayne did. I do agree that Hollywood is anti-John Wayne due to his strong anti-communist beliefs and his ostracism by a large segment of Hollywood.
