FDR knew it was coming and let it happen.

I don't know exactly what happened in the mexican-american war of 1846-1847, but one version I've read is that our side trained an army of 2,500 mormons and took that army down to mexico and basically conquered mexico. According to what I read that army of 2500 repeatedly faced mexican armies of up to 10,000 and prevailed over and over. and then they went right into mexico city and took over their government.

this is the unusual thing about American history that really stands out. We have this history of sending troops to fight in foreign countries. and so often these troops have been out-numbered and performed extraordinarily well. and also, we've sent troops to so many countries. In 1846 we fought mexico. but after the 1898 events we attacked and took over 6 countries. and then we just kept going with every 2-3 years invading and conquering somebody - to this very day.

Before its done (our nation) our troops will have been almost everywhere all over the world. and also true to george washington's prophecy the foreigners will finally come here to kill us.

I see from your comment Flintlock that you have something in common with President Obama. You think some wars are good.

I'd say the war here in 1836 was a righteous one.

Why we ever joined the US escapes me.

As Sam Houston observed, Texas can get along without the US, but the US cannot get along without Texas.

I certainly can sympathize with that comment. but I don't really concur when you say the US can't get along without texas.

That was Sam, not me.

I'd love for us to give secession a chance.
