Interesting, but I'll stick with the stainless steel. Plastic tubs just don't make much of a decorator statement in the home.

Not everyone can afford stainless steel.
Correct. There are those who cannot afford enough to pay attention. It's sad but true. I wish it weren't so.

I made a really nice one using a three gallon restaraunt iced tea dispenser and a square, four and a half gallon food grade, clear, polycarbonate bucket & lid from Atlas Restaraunt Supply. You could also probably get the stuff from www.usplas tic.com. They're a really good company for finding hard-to-get plastic stuff. Really nice looking and being clear, you can see the water levels and condition of the filters without taking it apart. Much nicer than the Berkey Light unit.

Seeing the condition of the filters would be great. Totally impossible with stainless. I just wait till it starts tasting funky, and clean'em.

I hope you have the fluoride filter too. If I recall you're in the greater Austin area and I believe, if memory serves, your water is poisoned with fluoride. I would not drink fluoridated water on a bet.
