There are a couple of different strategies for avoiding a lot of this shit, and it IS shit. I don't use a lot of 4 letter words but there are times they're called for.

I have gradually eliminated a lot of this stuff from my diet, but it is next to impossible to get rid of all of it, but like any toxic exposure you can take steps to minimize it.

I have become a label reader on virtually every food product I buy. If I see any of the following in the label it goes back on the shelf immediately:

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Aspartame/Nutra-Sweet/Amino-Sweet - or any other "artificial sweetener". Refined sugar may not be "good" for you but it is nowhere near as toxic as Nutra-Death.

Hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated Oils of any kind.

Soybean Oil - virtually 100% of soybean oil is now GMO with unstudied long term effects. The few short term studies of GMO soy are not good as it causes reproductive harm and declining birth rates among test animals.

MSG in any form - sometimes disengenuously labeled "Soy Protein Isolate" and other names to camouflage its presence. MSG is derived from Soy and is present in some degree in all Soy products.

I DO NOT under any circumstances purchase chips or other snack items unless they are labeled ORGANIC. The chemicals that go into most "snack" foods to increase cravings for them - so called "flavor enhancers" are more chemical death.

The safest is to just buy Organic, but that is not always possible to do and people on tight budgets can't always afford it. So, the best thing to do is buy organic if you can and minimally processed otherwise.
