My brother has been expecting a collapse since the late '80's.

It seems evident that they have finally run out of bubbles to inflate.

They were anticipating a carbon tax bubble .. in the alternative they'll squeeze the pension funds internationally.

If Congress keeps avoiding tax increases then all that would collapse would be the vast government bureaucracy, which would be a good thing. But it could be kept intact with Bernanke dollars although this would boost the price of imports. Maybe this is why some are talking about $200 oil and $8 gasoline.

US empire

we the americans never wanted an empire. we were simply enlisted by government to serve in that empire. we were told we were protecting freedom, liberating others, etc. then we were told it was 'nations business'. today an elaborate ideology is developed to allow individuals to justify for themselves to fight in the wars.

here's a prominent journalist openly speaking the truth that it is an empire we serve in. it is very obviously true. yet if you go door-to-door and tell Americans that our military serves in foreign countries, we have 1000 military bases outside our country, then many Americans will argue and say that anyone asserting it is a 'US empire' is anti-american. they are so completely deluded into serving a master that is actually a hostile tyrant to us.

we have an empire today, that means our revolution of 230 years ago failed.
