John Williams was gunned down by a psycho cop on a Seattle street last August
Wood carver John Williams was crossing a street when a police officer spotted him carrying a knife and a piece of wood.
Seattle police say Officer Ian Birk, 27, thought Williams was a threat.
Investigators say Williams had turned to face the officer but would not say if he had made any sort of move toward him.
Williams, 50, had been living in Seattle for 18 years, working as a carver at the Pike Place Market in the city's downtown tourist district, when he was shot Aug. 30.
He died after the officer shot him four times in the chest.
Audio recordings from the patrol car indicate Williams failed to comply with repeated orders to put down his knife, Seattle police said. A local art dealer said Williams was deaf in one ear and likely did not hear the officer.
Birk's lawyer did not agree with the release of the video, but King County District Court Judge Arthur Chapman ruled on Thursday that the footage should be released Friday.
Birk was recently asked to turn in his badge and his gun.
An inquest into the shooting is scheduled for January.

I wasn't the one that came up with that idea. I actually agree with OI on this one. Cops all seem to have a superiority complex.

I'd like to know if the cop was on psychotropic drugs or if there was a record of any prior confrontation with the victim. Dangerous cops are another reason why citizens should ALL be armed. These types of events have been increasing.

A dash cam video from the officer who shot and killed Native American woodcarver John T. Williams was released Friday, showing Williams ambling slowly across the street in a crosswalk before the officer opens fire. Although most of the action takes place off-screen, Williams is seen walking across the street in front of the patrol car in the video, dated Aug. 30. Birk's badge was later pulled after a Seattle Police Department Review Board and Chief John Diaz reached a preliminary finding that Williams' shooting was not justified. A judge ruled Thursday that the clip from officer Ian Birk's car could be released to the public after prosecutors had a chance to notify witnesses not to view the tape. The tape's release comes after a public disclosure request from the Seattle Times. An inquest into Williams' shooting death by Officer Ian Birk has been set to begin on Jan. 10. I refused to watch the video of the shooting [might not have been able to if I wanted to]. I was P.O.'ed enough just reading about it, and didn't want to see this poor man offed like that. noone, my computer is running too slowly to watch your video [I tried], and wudidiz, likewise on the liveleak recording [it was so choppy for me I couldn't make much out of it...will have to try again later]....plus I saw it after I posted my comment....so, did I jump to an unfair conclusion re the "brain-AD'L-ed cops"?

A study of the atrocities committed by the police in the Bible would be as painful as it is dramatic. Examining just the New Testament, here is a list of crimes committed by the police. Police Crimes in Gospels 1. The massacre of the children (Matthew 2:16). Admittedly, most of these crimes were committed by the police on the orders of the king, the governor, or the Sanhedrin. But the fact remains: the police referred to in the New Testament are often involved in carrying out very evil deeds. Observe the role the temple police and Pilate's police played in the crucifixion. In the New Testament the police contribute more often to disorder than to order. Above all, it was the police who participated in the major disorder of all time - the execution of the Son of God. Police Crimes in Book of Acts 1. The double imprisonment of the apostles (Acts 4:3; 5:26). The book of Acts records the Apostles "going against the decrees of Caesar" (Acts 17:6-8) and being cast in prison. They were certainly not "obeying the civil authorities." Was the Roman centurion who scourged and beheaded Apostle Paul the "minister of God" sent for our good, as referenced in Romans 13:4? Apostle Paul said rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Certainly, then, Paul must have been doing evil and the rulers did not use the sword in vain against him? Or was Apostle Paul speaking in Romans 13 about different rulers and powers, separate from the secular authorities? Modern Day Police It appears the police of today are performing the same duties the Roman police performed almost 2,000 years ago. The City and State authorities today get disturbed when we say there is another king, one named Jesus (Acts 17:7). They send out their police to arrest us because we are going against their decrees. They cast us in prison for obeying God, rather than men, just as the Roman police did to the apostles (Acts 5:29). In Marion County Jail, one of the guards mockingly said to Abraham, "Oh, we don't want to hurt one of His little ones." Another policeman told him, "We've been sent by God to punish those who do not obey the civil authorities." Police officers not only do the "dirty work" for secular authorities, they also mock us and our King. They seem to be repeating the same atrocities that the first century police committed. Their job descriptions were written long before they were even born. We are not wrestling with men. We are wrestling with the office. (Ephesians 6:12) In reality, the police then, and now, are not carrying the torch of God. They are carrying the torch of their own bellies, their own interests, not the interest of God. And they are using force to get their own way, destroying the prophets who are carrying the message of Christ. Much can be written on the subject of psychological warfare, beatings, imprisonment and other tactics used by police - both in the first century and now. In a sense, and to a lesser or greater degree, the police in every nation continue to crucify Jesus Christ. Both the Roman guard who beheaded Apostle Paul and the police of today punish those who do good, while they themselves do evil. In reality, we believe Apostle Paul is referring to the fact that all of us, including the Roman guard and the police of today, are subject unto the higher powers, the heavenly ones, "for there is no power but of God." Multiple times he states "he was carving that piece of wood".........which clearly refutes any claim that officer empty the chamber and ask questions later was in any clear and present danger whatsoever.

I recently had a parking ticket null-pross'd. What a circus. Just a horde of the unwashed poor, about 150 of them arraigned for all manner of petty delicts committed in a world in which these people can barely keep up with the requirements of modern life like keeping car paperwork and insurance in order, keeping their kids from fighting in school and committing various minor trespasses against neighbors and authority. All of this presided over by underlings like the black and hispanic asst. DA's and secretaries and white deputies. The judge doesn't even show for this three-ring deal. The assistant prosecutor and her assistants herd the offenders into groups, line them up and offer them each a little deal. Just a couple of suits in the audience - lawyers for those with dough or for those that couldn't be there because they were serving time elsewhere. Like I said quite a circus.
I know...so sad. I attended one court recently also attended by some Tea Partiers [first ones I had ever met]...it was annoying to hear them cluck and gasp as one black guy was arraigned for stealing something over $300 from a store [not nice to be sure, but I woke up thinking what the Bible says about stuff like that...something like they are to pay back double, maybe]. Instead, this guy faced a huge fine, 6 months to a year in jail, and the taxpayer would get stuck with the huge bill to the prison-industrial complex. I don't think the store that was robbed gets reimbursed at all, so who is this supposed to benefit? The judges doesn't even show for this three-ring deal. The assistant prosecutor and her assistants her the offenders in groups, line them up and offer them each a little deal. Just a couple of suits in the audience - lawyers for those with dough or for those that couldn't be there because they were serving time elsewhere. This is a new one on me...the judge not even showing up...but it figures. These courts are not Constitutional; they are Corporate "administrative bodies", attorning the chattel to The Crown, and all "crime" is COMMERCIAL, including murder, and the judges and the lawyers all get their "cut". Isn't it interesting the absolutely great quality of the video? everyone shold remember that most all cops have such video whenever we are interacting with them. This can be used to our advantage as we can subpeana the tape afterwards. In this case, the guy was simply walking along immersed in what he was doing, minding his own business carving a piece of wood. he was shown doing nothing wrong. notice how the cop lunges his vehicle forward as soon as he spots the guy. the cop shot at him 5 times almost immediately upon approach. he is indeed a maniacal killer cop and what a sad story. geez. thanks for the post.

What a circus. Just a horde of the unwashed poor, about 150 of them arraigned for all manner of petty delicts committed in a world in which these people can barely keep up with the requirements of modern life like keeping car paperwork and insurance in order, keeping their kids from fighting in school and committing various minor trespasses against neighbors and authority.
