Put me in charge ...

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your “home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place. In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

Many of the nation's poor are the product of our socialist generational welfare system and love it! They have no intention of bettering their lives with education and/or work. They need to be separated from the truly unemployed who have both a work history and a demonstrated ongoing desire to work. But that said, your empathetic screed is worthy of a song.

Please, follow the bouncing ball, and sing along!

And a one, and a two...

My objection to this letter doesn't have anything to do with hippy dippy feel good bull shit. It's in the author's utter blindness to the fact that an economic war, literally a war, which will have casualties, not the least of which are our freedom and that of our kids and grandkids, is being deliberately waged against us

Ya' think this author is talking about the hard working schlub who lost his job thanks to this nasty recession? Horse shit on a stick my friend. I think he, like me, and any sane American, is sick and tired of an open border that floods this nation with brown crap who, once in, are embraced by a certain portion of this oh so compassionate population. That "kindness" can no longed be supported. As I said, subtract out this generational, housing project human shit from the hard workers (who incidentally failed themselves by not becoming self informed during the NAFTA debate) and we can stand together.

This would essentially solve the "Illegal Alien" issue.

Then we could get rid of the "Welfare State" entirely.

I often jest with people in my life I am going to exactly that, I do want some single malt scotch, good tunes, and perhaps one other unmentionable. The Inuit would do this, they realize they are no longer productive and a drag on their family. It really is rather noble. I personally have no interest in ending my days in some stinking nursing home, where abuse and neglect are substitutes for care. I would pick the ice berg anyday.

So, question, do you really believe people should be put to death if they don't agree with your collectivism?

That would be a miniscule portion of the program that some would visit upon humanity if and when they would be in charge.

OK got ya'

The act was considered noble because they were sacrificing their remaining days on earth because there were limited resources and everyone had to contribute to survive. The Inuit literally gave his/her life so others could live, I consider that noble.

I agree a lot with the letter in that many of them folk are living in free housing and have all the toys they want - plazma teevee and fancy trucks worth more than I made gross the last 2-3 years - I'ld like to do as he says ... get them folk to sell the fancy chit us working people canna afford ... donate the money to the free ride they are on ...

there is most definately a war being waged though, even if some folk are enjoying themselves now ... the golden goose is half dead and the system will fall ... their free ride will be over for good ...

Anyone on welfare shouldn't be allowed to vote, and the generational welfare set, shouldn't be allowed to breed. They have brought the American taxpayer to his knees.

actually welfare has now reformed their rules so that if a woman applies for welfare when she has one kid, any further kid she has will not garner her any extra money. it used to be that the more kids she has, the more $ she gets.

nevertheless, i assume you were being facetious; but, government could never legitimately hold the power to sterilize someone. i know they did it before, and the US supreme court said it was great. but that has since been struck down, rightly so. the answer to the welfare state is not to give the state that sort of obscene power. in other words the answer to too much state is not even more state. yeesh. The guy who wrote it might be dumb, but you are not.

No, I'm serious. I wouldn't allow men and women create multiple children with multiple partners while expecting tax payers to pick up the tab. It's a burden that has our cities on the brink of bankruptcy. The man would have a snip and the woman placed on Norplant (both reversible) until they can support themselves and their progeny. I'm also serious about them not being allowed to vote. They'd be disqualified until they can support themselves. There's a quote by Cicero regarding voting that's appropriate, but I can't recall it off hand, and it's past my bedtime.

but we don't want any blacks with us. Or Mexicans. Or chronically poor

Working blacks and working *legal* Mexicans are fine, but you bleeding hearts can keep the chronically poor and illegals. Be my guest trying to inculcate American values into America's ghettos, I'll stick with reality. Some just love the dole my friend, deal with it.
