I am writing this letter to you today asking you to join them on that day—and the difficult days ahead, to bravely and with great dignity step over that line you’ve not stepped over before and begin to exert that powerful moral force you as veterans and active-duty troops represent; to raise your voices, to protest, to demonstrate, to end these wars and make our country a better place.

This is my hope. This is my prayer.

Sorry Ron!

I too am a Viet Nam era veteran and understand and sympathize with you. I did not serve in a war zone but saw first hand the devastating results of war, the deaths and the wounded. It is a horrible thing to see. Getting the support of the people to support a peace movement to end these wars will be a most daunting task. You see, since there is no draft whereby the sons and daughters, husbands and wives of the powerful elite who start and support these wars are exempt from them, and are never put in harms way, and the dumbed down masses who are too busy playing on electronic gadgets, or too busy going to professional sports arenas where the spectators are served up a menu of war and the spectators love it. They haven't the time nor take the time in most cases to even think about these wars.

Those running the show definitely are our biggest threat to our country and are the ones who are responsible for the continual wars around the globe. They control every aspect of our lives and are masters of "deception". They have used our tax dollars to start and fund these wars, used our tax dollars to move off shore, American corporations devastating our economy and at the same time making it possible to have an endless supply of our youth to go fight in these wars. With no chance for gainful employment, the youth are prime targets of the military recruiters and even are allowed to go into our public schools to sign up the next round of victims. They go into our schools, and are allowed to sell their war mongering; in the very schools that would arrest and expell a student for bringing in a knife to cut a birthday cake, or a candy cane that could become sharp by licking it.

With the high unemployment, lack of living wage jobs, the masses are too busy trying to stay afloat in the current depression. Some even work 3 or 4 jobs just trying to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. The average person is too busy fighting for survival and doesn't have the time to get involved in protesting these wars, and besides they are over there and outta sight of the masses.

Peaceful demonstrations in front of the Whitehouse or in Washington D.C. on a weekend when all the politicans are away and probably on a South Sea cruise(fact finding junket) paid for by the military industrial manufacturers, or out playing golf with the same, is so futile; been there done that. Tell me how much peaceful demonstrations have made the war mongerers change their stripes. It can't be done at the ballot box either; Obama is proof of that. The peaceful demonstrations back during Viet Nam turned violent when members of our own military fired upon and killed the 4 Kent State College students who were trying their best to stop the very war that put you in that wheelchair.Those deaths were the real beginning of the end of that war.

It will take a war , a real war right here in America, to stop the tyrants responsible for the continual wars they have our military fighting in foreign countries. Until then, Ron, You are taking on a task that is nearly impossible. You probably would have better luck looking out from your wheelchair on your front porch in New York and seeing Russia.
