Rule number 1: ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, RECORD and video if possible ANY AND ALL INTERACTIONS WITH CPS.

I do not personally have experience with them, thank God, but they will lie, intimidate, and otherwise attempt to trick you into an admission of anything they can use to justify their stance and their attempt to steal the children. Like the Police they are NOT YOUR FRIEND. Keep your temper and whenever possible, while the recorder is running, pin them down on any logical inconsistencies - politely of course, but don't let them get away with vague generalizations. This is a big league Poker Game.

Make sure that you are covered under the laws of your state on recording i.e., notify them that you are recording if that is required. That will also intimidate them as then they know there is a record that they can't lie out of.

Also VOLUNTEER NOTHING. Do not give them anything you do not have to answer as they can and will attempt to twist anything to justify their behavior. Realize that CPS is in the business of stealing children not protecting them.

Good. In that case use your judgment on whether to tell them you are recording. If it is advantageous to intimidate them tell them, if you want to sting them by catching them in a lie then don't.

I'm sorry to hear that your friends lost the kids, but at least they weren't taken into "protective" custody.

I did have serious doubts about the outcome of the case since the primary caregivers, your friend and his fiance, did not show up for the interview. That was a serious mistake, No?

I wonder if the dad will be a good parent. There must have been some reason for the breakup.

we done that. I say count your blessings that you didn't take the kids, who although would have been in your care & full responsibility, would technically been in legal custody of the state. this involves signing a contract of 'child rights', 'state mandates', live scans, meetings, court dates, home inspections, mandatory teacher, dentist, doctor, counselor, mediation, court dates, as well as scrutiny of everything you & your own wife do, etc. all this knowing full well the agenda of cps, who relishes in twisting the troubled & scared stolen kids minds against their parents, & against you. and you have to deal with the smug arrogant power starved creep cps on a near daily basis. it is literally a descent into the pit of hades. oh & on top of that, even though the state must compensate you for caring for them by law, they wont. they are deranged psychos that would make george bush look like mr rogers. dont ever volunteer for that again. imho
