I met him in a knife shop out in the middle of nowhere in Alaska back in the mid-80's. As down to earth as you can get, never met a stranger.

In the late 60's, and early 70's, I had long hair and was a 'hippie.' I didn't like Merle too much back then, not smoking weed, wearing bell-bottoms, or growing long hair. Reality of course changed me over the years, and now I like all three of them.
