Title: FBI pays visit to blogger as potential "threat"

This local ABC report out of southwest Missouri suggests a law enforcement response to the mass shooting in Arizona that has, until now, been conducted behind the scenes:

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A local blogger who was critical of Rep. Billy Long during last year's congressional campaign has been interviewed by the FBI about his encounters with the congressman.

Clay Bowler, who lives in Christian County, says he was shocked to find an agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation at his doorstep. Accompanying the agent was Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott.

The agent asked Bowler if he was a threat to Long, a notion Bowler finds laughable.

Long, an auctioneer and former talk radio host, is a freshman member of the new Congress. The blog in question, Long is Wrong, is now behind a password wall. Though Long is a Republican, the blog apparently attacked him from the right. While Bowler apparently "confronted" Long at some campaign events, there's no suggestion in the ABC article that he ever threatened the candidate.

The local sheriff casts some light on what may be going on here:

Arnott confirmed to KSPR News that Bowler isn't the only local person who's been scrutinized in the wake oflast weekend's shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Gifford (D-AZ) during a meet-and-greet with constituents in Tucson, Ariz.

Arnott said U.S. Capitol police canvassed members of Congress to come up with a list of people across the country who might be considered potential threats to members of Congress.

Asked if there is some new initiative in place, a spokesperson at the FBI's national office in Washington told me: "We wouldn't comment on anything like that."

Asked if the sheriff's comments were accurate, a spokesperson for the Capitol Police said: "We don't discuss anything that has to do with security of members of Congress. I'm not sure why anyone is talking about that."

Clearly, if a threat is made against a member of Congress, the authorities are obliged to follow up. But if the line separating sustained political criticism from threats has not been crossed, willy-nilly visits by the FBI could have a real chilling effect on the democratic process.

The New York Times recently reported that "studies of assaults on public figures have found that attackers have almost never telegraphed their intentions to their targets or to the authorities ahead of time."

This happened in my town. Some may remember me talking about Billy Long. He's a big government, leftist Republican who has proudly proclaimed that he wants to continue on in the "tradition of Roy Blunt." Roy Blunt is the big government, leftist Republican criminal Long replaced and who the supposed "conservatives" of the State of Missouri just elected to the Senate.

The sheriff in the article is another big government, leftist Republican and outspoken statist. What this article does not mention is that the blogger lived in Christian County and the sheriff who attempted to intimidate the blogger is the sheriff of Greene country and had no business being there. The sheriff of Christian county was left in the dark and knew nothing about the incident until after it happened. The FBI and the Greene County sheriff both refuse to answer questions about what and why Arnett was there instead of the Christian County sheriff.

The truth is real easy though. The sheriff of Greene County is a buddy of Billy Long whereas the sheriff of Christian County wasn't.

This visit was all about intimidation.

2011 may become a critical time in our history.

At best a turning point. At worst, OMG.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. .... After the letter to the editor I wrote to the Springfield News-Leader about Long, Blunt and the butt licking, sycophant sheriff, I expect I'll be getting a visit myself. I'm already on their no fly list, so they can add my letter to whatever other information the scumbags have on me.

I will not be intimidated by these cocksuckers.

At some point I imagine that we'll all be getting knocks at our doors.

In fact, we should probably have a continued discussion as to how best to handle exactly that for those reading here.

I guess that means we are desined to be armed - or dead!

Well if they're serious, DUH!

Exactly. The people who are the real threat would not be stupid enough to broadcast it to the world via the internet.

From what I have observed in the past the few warning signs given out by these types of whacked out nut cases that go on these killing sprees are usually only apparent with the clarity of 20-20 hindsight.

Thank you for the link. The download .pdf "If An Agent Knocks" is an interesting read. Mostly it is common sense if one assumes the government is corrupt from get-go (which I would expect as the majority opinion in these parts), but it does provide useful information which I hope I never have to use.

However, I would recommend it as a read for everyone who wishes to be aware of their rights and the limitations (in theory anyway) on the actions of Feral Investigators.

Most of these people aren't particularly social, like we are, anyway.

True. If they didn't already have problems they would never end up as insane killers. Their lack of sociability and enjoyment of the company of others is perhaps one of the giveaways. The motivation lies deep within a very disturbed psyche, and is not what we would consider sane. Thus they are incoherent, illogical, and resentful of others for no sane reason. As well the drugs these individuals are often put on not only do not solve the problem they invariably make it worse.

I know a guy who was escorted out of a Roy Blunt town hall meeting at a local senior citizen center for doing nothing more than being against the free meds for geezers legislation that Blunt wrote and pushed through. Blunt wasn't interested in hearing any opposition and neither were the "conservative" seniors in attendance. He was there to pander and the seniors were there to be pandered to and they guy I knew was shitting in their Wheaties by confronting Blunt. He was told that he would be arrested if he ever showed up at another town hall meeting.
