Title: Facebook's ludicrous demand for my cell phone number

A friend recently suggested I join 'Facebook'. I'd never been to Facebook, and wasn't really interested, but was pretty much convinced to try it. I used to be on 'Myspace', and I think I still am, if they haven't deleted my account for non-usage. Actually I don't even know if Myspace is still in business; apparently it is the graveyard of internet 'social'' sites. There is an interesting video on youtube called 'The truth about Facebook!' which has nealy 1.5 million views, which warns of the freakish privacy violations and risks of facebook.

To me, Facebook does not seem like a very user friendly site at all. For example, I am stil not even sure how to link to my facebook account to show others. I believe you can find it here, and my pictures here. If you can not find it by clicking on those links, I may as well delete the darn thing because it's a hopeless waste of time, (not that it isn't anyway). When I first signed up yesterday, they gave an option to 'customize' my facebook url. This made perfect sense, as it seems like the easiest way to find someone. Since I have joined, my friend suggested that I search around for people I know. I typed in the names of several people and it usually lists numerous people with the same or similar names, but not always the person I am looking for. This is even more reason to get a personalized facebook url (for example, facebook.com/yourname.)

When I started to sign up for a customized facebook url, a box popped up that demanded my personal cell phone number to ''verify'' something or other. Facebook then promised to 'text me' a 'secret code' for me to enter onto their website in order to complete the transaction. This has got to be the biggest bunch of hooey I have ever heard in my life, (aside from the official government version of 9/11). I don't give my phone number out to websites, particularly websites that are alleged to be CIA spook sites which gather, database and share information with any number of governments, corporations or creepy strangers

Facebook is for adolescents, underdeveloped adults(or do I repeat myself) semi- anti-social ReeRees, deviant lurkers and stalkers, and most importantly narcissistic ninnies :)
