I would agree with him that the show had its hokey elements. However, the hokey show is what propelled Bruce Lee to fame whether he wanted to admit it or not. I think what really made the show was the opening theme played by Al Hirt.

It is interesting how the music can make or break a movie or a TV show. Can you imagine Peter Gunn without the Henry Mancini theme song, or James Bond without the Bond Theme? The one movie that Sean Connery did as Bond for another producer, who did not have the rights to the Bond Theme, was a flop. It was just not the same. The music absolutely fit the early Bond movies and made all the difference in the world.

The late Freddy Prinz. I don't recall the theme though.

Star Wars has great theme music as well. John Williams is a wonderful composer. He did the music for the third Harry Potter movie as well.

Is it the Telarc Disc "Star Tracks"? If so I have it as well.

Another great intro and theme was for the TV show 77 Sunset Strip.

I think TV themes went way downhill when they stopped composing good ones and just went for cheap pop schlock. The ones that rely on Jazz or Classical themes are much more interesting and do a much better job of setting the show up.

The ones that rely on Jazz or Classical themes are much more interesting and do a much better job of setting the show up.

I agree. Where would Mission Impossible be without the theme? Streets of San Francisco.

Tough women come from New York, sweet women from Texas, prissy women from Southern California, but we NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WOMEN have fire & ice in our blood. We can ride 4-wheelers, be a princess, throw a left hook, pack heat, hunt with the men, bake a cake, love with passion, and if we have an opinion, you know you're going to hear it!!

Yes, two excellent themes. The Pink Panther theme was an attention getter as well - another Henry Mancini piece.

The animated movie "Heavy Metal" was one of the few that was able to use Rock Music in a tasteful way that really worked with the movie.

"“Believe nothing merely because you have been told it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

I'm not a boomer. I'm 42

As the planet goes through cycles of booms and busts ... you're likely a "buster" !

Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces. I've never seen the word "tasteful" is the same sentence as the movie "Heavy Metal". lol
It was a good movie and the music fit well. For its time it was risqué, now it's kind of passé compared to other animation.
