http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepsodent

Pepsodent was a very popular brand before the mid '50s, but its makers were slow to add fluoride to its formula to counter the rise of other highly promoted brands such as Crest and Gleem toothpaste by Procter & Gamble, and Colgate's eponymous product; sales of Pepsodent plummeted.

Today Pepsodent is a “value brand” marketed primarily in discount stores and retails for roughly half the price of similarly-sized tubes of Crest or of Colgate.

Pepsodent is still sold as a Unilever property in all markets except the United States and Canada.

Didn't watch that show. Nine of us in the family and only one black & white tv. We had to watch whatever the rest of the family wanted to see. I spent way more time outdoors, playing football, hunting, sledding, basketball and of course shoveling snow, weeding and hoeing in the garden and pushing that old reel mower cutting the grass, than watching tv.

I might have missed one or two but I didn't actually write it down. Most of them I got with out seeing what the choices were. I did miss the David Brinkly one but we didn't watch him. I did know where it came from I just didn't know the answer. too funny. I was born in 63 so sometimes I'm considered a boomer and sometimes not, depends on who is doing the list. I do not consider myself one.

The Jeep was Nelly, and Skyking's daughter's name was Penny. yes?

Penny was related to Sky King, but was not his daughter. What was her relationship?

For bonus points:

What was the name of Penny's Plane?

For double bonus points what was its make?

Who played Daniel Boone on the Disney Series about him?

Who played his Indian Guide and Friend?

What was his Indian Guide also famous for other than playing an Indian?

What was the TV Show "Whirly Birds" about?

1) Sky King was Penny's uncle

2) Penny's plane's name - not a clue

3) I'll go with Fess Parker for Daniel Boone (I know he was Davy Crockett, but what the hey)

4)The Indian guide was played by Ed Ames. He also played Tonto in the Long Ranger

5) Not a clue about the Whirley Birds.

Not too bad.

Yup Penny was Sky King's Niece.

Her plane, a Piper Cherokee, was named Songbird.

Fess Parker played Daniel Boone.

Ed Ames was also a talented Opera Singer. Oh, and Tonto was played by Jay Silverheels. What was his horse's name?

Whirley Birds was an adventure show where the heroes flew helicopters.

What was the line?

And where did they lift it from?

ok I took the test writing down my answers and checking them against the answer key. I missed one and that was the Brinkly one. But I knew what it was referencing. This reminded me of those tests you take at baby showers where you are given the product line and you have to say the product. I do really well on those.

Truthfully I don't know if it exists any more or not myself. Seems to me I have seen boxes of it at the store though.

However, it was a big ad campaign in the late 60's. The early ones were B&W but the later ones were in color. And the gimmick of the commercial was a White Knight on a White Horse who would come charging in and turn all the dirty clothes sparkling white.

I would agree with him that the show had its hokey elements. However, the hokey show is what propelled Bruce Lee to fame whether he wanted to admit it or not. I think what really made the show was the opening theme played by Al Hirt.

It is interesting how the music can make or break a movie or a TV show. Can you imagine Peter Gunn without the Henry Mancini theme song, or James Bond without the Bond Theme? The one movie that Sean Connery did as Bond for another producer, who did not have the rights to the Bond Theme, was a flop. It was just not the same. The music absolutely fit the early Bond movies and made all the difference in the world.

yes the right theme music/song makes a difference. Cheers, MASH, Welcome Back Kotter etc

Do you remember a show called Chico and the Man? Great theme.

The late Freddy Prinz. I don't recall the theme though.

Star Wars has great theme music as well. John Williams is a wonderful composer. He did the music for the third Harry Potter movie as well.

I was going to post a youtube but then I remembered you were on dial up.

Star Wars has great theme music as well.

We have a CD of all the great space movie themes. Well some TV shows mixed in.

Is it the Telarc Disc "Star Tracks"? If so I have it as well.

Another great intro and theme was for the TV show 77 Sunset Strip.

I think TV themes went way downhill when they stopped composing good ones and just went for cheap pop schlock. The ones that rely on Jazz or Classical themes are much more interesting and do a much better job of setting the show up.

I agree. Where would Mission Impossible be without the theme? Streets of San Francisco.

Yes, two excellent themes. The Pink Panther theme was an attention getter as well - another Henry Mancini piece.

The animated movie "Heavy Metal" was one of the few that was able to use Rock Music in a tasteful way that really worked with the movie.

Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces. I've never seen the word "tasteful" is the same sentence as the movie "Heavy Metal". lol
It was a good movie and the music fit well. For its time it was risqué, now it's kind of passé compared to other animation.
