I'm sure most of us, if not ALL of us, have noted it, but look at all the emphasis on scaring us that's gone since Monday. We start off with the bird flu scare, and scientists re-creating the 1918 virus, and the possible need for an expanded role for the military on American soil, and we move on to Bush' speech about the evil Islamists and now we have terror alerts on the NYC subway. Coincidence? I think not.

Have I missed any other attempts to terrorize us this week?

The Live Roast/Tribute of Barbara Walters in a bare shouldered dress last night on CSPAN.

"I want the American people to know that our dreams are gone, our work was in vain. There will be no future for our children and our grandchildren in the new Iraq. The future is for the clerics. This is not the democracy we dreamed of. "--Dr. Raja Kuzai

She probably looks like a sharpei by now. Truly terrifying. I think they're trying to drive us insane.

isn't it true that a population is easier to rule over when they are insane. when they can't think straight. when they're thrown off-balance, confused, afraid. and if you're in the business of ruling and you're also engaged in fantastic criminal enterprises and the looting of massive sums of money through a variety of means, that you will maximize the value of your portfolio by ruling with an iron fist. and if the people are destroyed, then it is easier to rule over them with an iron fist.

what is aspartame except an effort to harm the people? to make them unable to think, etc.

Bush doesn't amount to much without his boogeymen? Just an incompetent spoiled rich kid who finally wormed his way into a position where daddy can't bail him out.

At the very least I expect some very hysterical terrorist warnings as the indictments come out. Maybe a little more than warnings. I don't expect the Bush gang to go down quietly and, as they have shown us, they are not the most moral bunch on the planet.

I've already said too much.

I agree, Red, but I wonder at this point, what the reaction of Americans IS to all this alarmism emanating from the cesspools of Washington? Is this stuff really making people scared - or is it making them angry and suspicious?

I'm really surprised that Bushco hasn't blown something up by now. I would have expected it, unless they think they're being watched too closely at this point. They've got to do something to take people's minds off the ongoing indictments - maybe drop some bombs on Iran?

Well that would truly be terrifying :) I don't think so, though, I think they'll get him on something. He'll plead nolo on something and go to Club Fed for a while. Work on his golf swing.

Rove was dishonest and underhanded enough to plant a bug in his own office in order to win a minor local election. Now the stakes are much higher. Him and Bush are poised to go down as the bad guys of all time in American history - in addition to being ruined. Is he dishonest and underhanded enough to pay a mobster to leave a package on a subway?

There are only two groups who can really say if the Bush team deserves to be indicted or not, the Bush team and Fitzgerald.

As Fitzgerald gets closer to the end of his investigation, the Bush team explodes into an orgy of over the top fear mongering. Laying the groundwork for future stories about not hampering the President during times of war.

What does this tell you?

It tells me to wait for the big boom. When will the Plame indictments start coming in? That's probably the time frame. Run and buy some duct tape while you can!
