Here in this house...

I will never know the loneliness that I hear in the cries of the other animals 'out there.'

I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed.

I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I will eat.

I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat,

but rather, I will nap in the sun's warmth, and play in the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose.

My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.

Here in this house...

There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level.

I will be talked to, and, even if I don't understand,

I can enjoy the warmth of the words spoken to me in

kindness. I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many.

My name will be used in love and joy, and I will relish the sound of it!

Here in this house...

I will never be a substitute for anything I am not.

I will never be used to improve peoples' image of themselves.

I will be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be.

I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity.

I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all.

I will be praised for my successes, instead of punished too harshly for my mistakes.

If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame.

Here in this house...

I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good

of me.

If I am injured or ill, I will be doctored.

If I am scared, I will be calmed.

If I am sad, I will be cheered.

Here in this house...

No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and known to be of value.

I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough.

I will not be left behind because my humans moved - I will move with them.

If a new human baby joins my family, it will not 'replace' me, but instead will be one more human for me

to love, and to love me. I will not be treated as disposable.

My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought.

I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as

other animals.

Here in this house...

I was BROUGHT, because I was WANTED!

I will BELONG!

I will be home - FOREVER!

AND I WILL BE LOVED!

Cali, my cat, was wild, hungry and frozen on a bitter winter nite. When she smelled food and felt warmth, she came in the house.

That was two years ago. The usual vet bills etc have all been worth it. She is a comfort to us, understands us and talks to us in her own way. God sent her when I was alone and lonely. We did not need another cat, but she needed us.

So.....

If only this were extended to all the children out there.

Beautiful sentiments/thoughts to all the dependent/defenseless ones.

Thank you.

Cool. That is a lovely tale. All 5 of my last 5 cats were ones that adopted me. Each one was special in their own way. Two of them were invited in as lost kittens during harsh Fall weather. One literally wandered in the door as stray kitten and found the food bowl and my heart, and two were brought to me in search of a home. None of them will be forgotten.

I know it brought a few tears to my eyes.

Yes indeed.

It takes awhile for some animal owners to understand that their animals can and will communicate with them if they are smart enough to recognize it.

My cat has several different sounds, each means one thing alone.

My last dog was with me for 16 years and was smarter than most of my relatives.

I love this prayer!!!

I also love cats too! When I lived in a boarding home across from a school, I befriended a gorgeous black stray cat. When she got pregnant, she had her litter in a cat house I reserved for her. I took care of her, her kitties and the father. When I would come home from work, I'd be playing my jazz music. The mother kitten and her babies would all be perched outside my window sill just to listen to the music. It was quite a site for passerbys to see.

I was known as catlady.

May that part of the Animal Prayer come true. They might add:

I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as intelligent as

other animals.

When our beautiful chocolate Labrador, Samantha, died, I had a dream in which I saw her running in fields just as shown in this video. There was also a river and on the other side of the river I saw old dogs lined up, wistfully watching my Sammy as she ran, jumped and played so joyously.

Maybe there is a Rainbow Bridge!
