He’s Just Not That Into Anyone
Even, and perhaps especially, when his girlfriend is acting like the women he can’t stop watching online.

I met the woman at a Broadway show, but the night’s best piece of acting, I’d say, came from me, back at her East Village apartment, after we’d been having sex for about 25 minutes, with Neil Young wailing the song “Comes a Time” from the laptop on her bedside table. The dried-out condom had a full-bodied choke hold on me, but I’d already stopped twice to put on a fresh one, and I knew, as I kept earnestly pumping away, that one more condom wouldn’t make the necessary difference. Had I just given up, things might have played out the way they often did, with shades of confused disappointment and inadequacy on the part of the woman and mumbled apologies and awkward shame from me. But that night, ingenuity struck—unable to actually get off, I found myself flying a fresh route: I faked it.

IMO it's not porn that is causing this. Porn of one type or another has been around forever.

It's casual sex without even the tiniest bit of basic affection, much less love. It's nothing but mutual masturbation. It's not much of a jump from mutual masturbation to just going solo.

For a lot of guys, switching gears from porn’s fireworks and whiz-bangs to the comparatively mundane calm of ordinary sex is like leaving halfway through an Imax 3-D movie to check out a flipbook.

How pathetic is that.

We can add this to Skinner's Lament about modernity and pushing buttons. The modern world presents a cornucopia of interesting and entertaining things. But it is not a happy world. Much viewing of paintings, but little painting. Much listening to music, but less making of music. Much reading, less writing. Poorer writing. In short, less actual living.

I have a hard time believing that in 1950 porn was pervasively available and easily gotten.

Maybe it wasn't as convenient to get as it is today, but I bet it was available without going thru too much of a hassle. But that is before my time so I can't say for sure.

But the "sexual revolution" started long before the internet and the easy availability of porn. So I don't know that I agree that it is porn or "womens liberation" that is to blame. IMO we were a very uptight bunch of people, sexually. When authoritarian pricks forbid something, people want it even more, whether it's good for them or not.

This is true. It ain't playboy and penthouse anymore. Much of the stuff out there is positively vile.

The rest I agree with too (except for the biblical part, of course ;P ).

But, is all this to blame for mens inability to function? I don't see it. It's too easy to blame it on porn. It's no different than some kid saying "the devil made me do it".

Why do men turn to, and then become addicted to, porn? IMO porn is only a symptom, not the underlying disease.

We started with some pretty severe repression, then the pendulum swung to the opposite extreme. There is no sense of balance. If these "men" would stop seeing women as nothing more than vaginas in clothing, then maybe they'd get somewhere. Same thing with the "women", because IMO they can be just as bad. These "men" and "women" should just save their time and money, and their immune systems, and buy fleshlights and vibrators.

3. Men started treating women like property and toys

I dont believe that they started treating women as property. That has been going on for a long time. But I get what you're saying and I agree.

I don't see an easy answer to this. WEll, actually I do. Treat people as being human beings and not just as mobile genital support systems. Maybe it will take a total breakdown of society to put a stop to this madness too.

Just think, all of this, because "men" forgot how damn sexy it is when women climax, hopefully more than once. There's nothing better than that. Jacking off to porn is a piss poor substitute.

Actually, you know what's sick about that, is that IMO many men only care about the act themselves and don't actually care about the woman in that way, which is also tragic. Lack of love. All animal instinct.

Yep.

It's hard to care about someone that you just met in a f'n bar or in a club. But the women want it too. So they get it.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes in that lifestyle, and not just because I hate bars and clubs.

It seems you are a few years in front of me,it was different even the few years that seperate you and I.Women are waaaay more astute,waaaay more in touch with their innerself,as we are,in fact.Women(imho)do have a slight advantage,men are oversexed,and get wood when the wind blows....wimmins can play hard to get naturally...they are an enigma unto themselves,what chance have we? Women are the most incredible gift of god,the most wonderfull sunrise ever,the heart of earth,the reason for being,they are love.

Sex is between the ears. That may be a hackneyed observation but it's very true. What men DON'T seem to get is that women they go after are a reflection of themselves. If they want a big busted bimbo because she's an easy target to crack their nuts on, then they'll get bimbo sex and they also see themselves as stupid bimbo fucks. It's all a matter of self-esteem.

A man who enjoys the company of classy ladies is usually a class act himself and has no trouble enjoying a fulfilling relationship in every way with his lady.
