Brutal - I bailed at 1:18.

Had to mash the station button several times in the car this morning. Why is it that every bleedin' piece of music has to be rendered as some sort of field hand's lament?? Americans lissen to everything that's shoveled out to them like a docile class of fifth graders.
It is a violation of Natural Law to use this document in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Christina's awful effort was getting more attention than was the game on local morning talk radio. I clicked on it here because there was so much chatter about it, and I didn't see it yesterday.

Air heads like her feel the need to customize the Anthem and that becomes more important than the words themselves. What's worse is that the oafs in the stadium found it quite acceptable. Also, who the eff are the Black Eyed Peas? Not that I listened, but I honestly never heard of them. Sometimes this aging thing isn't all that bad :)
They are a pop band. That was Fergy that has the new song with slash. I like the new song and it is getting a lot of air play.

Very well said. I made the remark to my wife that her attempt To "jazz" it up was embarrasing to say the least. Maybe she has memory lapses from all that damn bleach used to make her a blonde. She sure came off as a dizzy blonde.

[PERFECT ANALYSIS ... it sounded like an American Idol try-out ] The Black Eyed Peas stunk the place up something terrible, however (Slash) the guitarist from Guns and Roses almost bailed them out until the female singer barged in and started trying to sing (again) ... she was horrible and the Half- Time Show stunk ! I also thought the commercials sucked big time. I mentioned to CadetD that the audience that had paid big bucks to be there would not appreciate the half-time show ... it was geared for 13 year old deaf kids ! I also noted that nearly all of the commercials promoted inter-racial relationships ... even the cartoon ones !

It's tough to hit those high notes and low notes in the song. For Aguilera, it didn't matter because she chose her own points in the song to make highs and lows. Her genre of singing (of which she is not alone) is what I've come to call "headache music". Obviously not for treating headaches, but for inducing them.

Shakira is Colombian. Is she even a US citizen? I don't think she is. Nice touch having a foreigner singing the national motto. Kinda fitting, actually.
Shakira is not exactly well endowed, and she is known for giving away a LOT of money to charity, doing things like donating entire proceeds from concerts. She is also responsible for her own success. She wasn't "found" by some scouter. She earned all her own success through work (combined of course with talent and great looks). My opinion of her is on the favorable side.

It's bad enough that this indoctrination continues at venues throughout the nation on a daily basis, but why is it that these singers always have to A, make singing the damn thing all about them, and B, in that same vein, then try to remake the song according to some totally F'd up rendition.
