It's rectangular. It certainly looks man-made. It's off the coast of North Africa. It's deep underwater. And it's on Google Maps. Could it be the ancient lost city of Atlantis? That's what Bernie Bamford, a British aeronautical engineer, wondered after he spotted an unusual pattern of rectangles on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, The Telegraph newspaper reports. About the size of Connecticut, the pattern looks an awful lot like an aerial grid map of a city. Check the site out on Google Maps. Here's an excerpt from The Telegraph report: According to his account, the city sank beneath the ocean after its residents made a failed effort to conquer Athens around 9000 B.C. Dr Charles Orser, curator of historical archaeology at New York State University told The Sun that the find was fascinating and warranted further inspection. I'm a few chapters into a book (The Atlantis Blueprint) that claims Atlantis is Antarctica. The premise is that a pole shift moved the continent to harsher climate from a location closer to the equator that was more hospitable to life. The authors work on the Hapgood premise that claims that prior to 9,600 BC the Arctic Circle was centered on Hudson Bay (60N 83W) and the Antarctic Circle was in the South Indian Ocean (60S 97E). Hapgood collaborated with Einstein on his theory of earth crust displacement and discovered some maps indicating sub glacial Antarctica. I'm not far enough along in the book to comment but that is the crux thus far. That's a compelling Google Earth shot. Edgar Cayce claims we'll find it before major earth changes roll out.

The corners of the area are too perpendicular and occurring in too many instances to be formed naturally. You can definitely see the hand of man in those line formations. Don't forget, there WAS a great civilization that existed before the Great Flood.

Hapgood's books are available in reprints from Adventures Unlimited Press. The book "The Path of The Poles" is the one which Einstein wrote the forward for. His other interesting work, published before "The Path of The Poles", was "Maps of The Ancient Sea Kings" which is where Hapgood first went "off the Reservation" when he studied the Piri Reis Map and the Oronto Finnaeus Map. One of the things he was able to pull out of the maps is that they were constructed using Spherical Trigonometry thousands of years before it was supposedly invented. Different writers at different times have tried to put Atlantis in a variety of places - from Crete, to Britain, to Antarctica. However, Plato was very clear about its location "beyond the Pillars of Hecules" a.k.a. Gibraltar. What these writers all seem to miss is that Atlantis was not an isolated phenomena with the rest of the world trapped in barbarism. Contemporaneous with Atlantis was an advanced culture in India, generally referred to as the Rama Empire, Greece (supposedly the arch enemies of Atlantis), Egypt, and South America. What seems to have occurred, and this is my own hypothesis, is a world war using nuclear weapons, or possibly a world wide cataclysm which reduced the existing cultures to a pre-literate level - except Egypt who nevertheless sunk to a pre-industrial level over time. Possibly it was a Pole Shift, but at this point the data is insufficient. However we can look at the ruins around the world and see that these people had an advanced technology where they were able to build massive stone structures and monuments many of which we cannot duplicate today. You can find the remnants in Egypt, at Tiahuanco in Peru, Baalbek in Lebanon, Tonga, Nan Madol, and on and on. The architecture is what we have come to call cyclopean both because of its age and the massive scale upon which the ancients built. We are speaking stone blocks of 15 to 20 tons being routine with blocks ranging up in size to the largest, Baalbek in Lebanon, weight in excess of 750 tons. The latter are too large to be lifted save by one crane on the entire planet (located at a shipyard in the South Pacific). As well one can find intriguing traces that suggest an ancient nuclear war - in the "Dead Quarter" of the Saudi Arabian Desert is a glass field of glazed green glass created by the fusion of immense heat over the sands - such as at Alamo Gordo. At Moenjho Daro, of the Indus Valley civilzation one can find figures burned into walls and sidewalks - just like at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is interesting looking at all the evidence for technologically advanced cultures in the past and the evidence is there to support the hypothesis if one begins by discarding preconceptions and the "everyone knows" false data.
Exactly. Right angles do not occur in nature. Rectangular, right angled layouts betray the hand of man. Likely more than one. The Great Flood was, I believe, a real event. It is interesting that where the Pillars of Hercules, Gibraltar, is today there was once a great barrier of rock holding the ocean at bay. At approximately the time when Atlantis supposedly sunk into the ocean in "a day and a night" that rock wall was breached and the Great Mediterranean Valley flooded. We know that it was dry at one point because as far down the sides of the basin as have been probed are signs of human habitation dating back into pre-biblical times. There are buildings and dwellings at 200 feet and deeper. That is deeper than the low water level of the biblical era.

They are: 31 15'15.53N 24 15'30.53W By magnifying the picture a bit, a little box appeared in the coordinates marker and writing in Spanish appeared to the left but had to widen the screen to see it all. Tried it again and the writing showed up on the right in full. It says: Always there is a blue sky for our eyes If you click on the little box again, it moves to the right with angle markings. Clicked again and a beautiful picture appeared of a small metal balcony with double doors of wood that open onto what looks like maybe another balcony of wood, with a green tree behind it and a very blue sky. Google Maps -- I didn't try that option but thanks for the tip. It works. Pretty picture to go with that Spanish writing at the coordinates marker. Shows up with some more Spanish writing by going the Google Earth route that translates to "The Scrambled Drawer".

You have to zoom out about 150 miles to even see this "city". And the "roads" are at least a mile wide. Use the "ruler" tool at the top to measure this. .

I like the subject. The evidence isn't strong enough yet but there is enough reason for more research. We may discover the antediluvian world had a history beyond anything we can imagine. It is a modern vanity that modern man has been around such a short time and that science has only arisen once in the West. I see no reason to believe that. Almost nothing is really new. We see this over and over. I think it's something of a holdover from the old Christian teachings about a young-earth creation, going back only 5500 years. Bullshit. One can look at the grid lines and contrast them with the surrounding ocean bottom. The thing that stands out when one actually looks at the evidence rather that regurgitating o'fishul attempts to explain unusual observations away is that the features recorded are not superficial lines but are sunk into the topography of the site. Further while lines could form from Sonar Mapping, an area in which I am trained and experienced, it does not form topographical features and the irregularities of the bottom are reported with reasonable accuracy depending upon the operating frequency of the system. The higher the frequency the more detailed the map. The problem of course with high frequency mapping is that you have to use a towed transducer as the higher the frequency the shorter the range. (Which is why anti-submarine sonars operate at lower frequencies to extend the range, and then rely on digital processing to clarify the signal.) Typical operating frequencies for towed sidescan mapping sonars is around 200 KHZ - which is a compromise between range and accuracy. It's an engineering trade off. Once again you demonstrate your abysmal ignorance and propensity for regurgitating o'fishul lyins' - Troll.

No, I am not understating the scale YOU are making an ASSUMPTION unwarranted by the data. You assume, because of all of the indoctrination of history and archaeology much of which was set in stone in the 19th century, that all ancient civilizations were small and primitive. That is AN ASSUMPTION which is contradicted by readily available evidence: The Pyramids at Giza Baalbek in Lebanon Easter Island Moenjho Daro and Harrapa Tiahunaco Ollanyaytambo Nazca Prehistoric India - a ruin has been located and roughly mapped off of the Northeast Indian coast which is the size of Manhattan. Malta And that is just scratching the surface. I could go on listing other sites of greater and lesser extent for at least a good hour. The reality is that human civilization goes much further back into antiquity that we have heretofore been led to misbelieve. The scale and quantity of massive megalithic stone ruins are testimony to a great degree of civilization in the time before what we now call recorded history. Only small minds are intimidated by the scale. I would simply point at the scale and suggest that it is suggestive of a very large area that has seen the hand of intelligence, intent, and a purpose which we are as yet unaware of. However, I would expect evidence to be of no consequence to you as you have your script and you'll stick to it. After all that's what you are paid to do. Here's something to put this all in context, so simple that even you can understand it. I-80 is 2900 miles long. It connects Teaneck NJ to SF Cali. Now Imagine that interstate being 2.75 miles wide. Build a city on that, along its entire length all the way across the country. That is how big your google earth image is. Did I say it was a city? NO I did not. I said that the anomaly is constructed with right angles and therefore is an artifact of intelligent construction/design. What it is exactly is as yet undetermined as the data set is incomplete. We have an anomaly and the explanation that it is a sonar mapping artifact is not congruent with known sonar signatures. And your attempt to use the scale of the artifact as somehow disproving artificiality is a Strawman Argument. Prejudices notwithstanding the data is what the data is. A canal system could show up at this scale. Guatemala, which was discovered only by Satellite Photography, is criss crossed coast to coast by an ancient canal system now overgrown by jungle. Yet it was built at time unknown by civilization unknown, and is not recorded in any surviving text. Further the anomaly occurs in isolation with no other similar "sonar" artifacts provided as support of that hypothesis. The anomaly disrupts the bottom topography which therefore is a datum contrary to the "sonar" hypothesis. Therefore the sonar artifact hypothesis is not proved and the evidence suggests that it is not a valid explanation of the observed data. I am not ruling it out I am simply saying that based upon the observed data it is unsupported as a hypothesis which thus diminishes it's possibility of being a valid explanation. And my argument, despite the needles, was founded upon logic, data, and a chain of reasoning tying the two together. Thus your attempt to categorize it with the misleading label is nothing more than a personal attack unsupported by any evidence or sound reasoning and thus is nothing more than Argumentum Ad Hominem Troll. I presume mind reading is another one of your many "talents"? Thus violating two of the logical fallacies: Q.E.D. Play Again?
Name one city that was 8,000 sq miles in area. Or name something that was even close.
