Pentagon official: US could send troops to fight Mexican "insurgency" By Bill Van Auken 10 Feb 2011 The second-highest civilian official in charge of the US Army warned Monday that US troops may have to intervene in Mexico to combat what he termed an "insurgency". The remarks, made by US Undersecretary of the Army Joseph Westphal at a security forum in Utah, drew an immediate rebuke from the Mexican government. Mexico’s Interior Department issued a statement Tuesday saying it "categorically rejects" the US official’s assertions.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

Oh oh.

This looks like a serious signal to Mexico. "Get your house in order, or else."

This is the way it is done. The Prez cannot issue these kinds of warnings, so underlings launch trial balloons.

If Washington is crazy enough to send battalions of men half way across the globe on pointless less crusades, it's certainly able to create pretexts to send tanks and planes and men over our southern border.

I think this is the second such "smoke signal" we've seen in the past couple of months.

It is a violation of Natural Law to use this document in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

We can't protect our borders with troops but we can send 'em into Mexico!

I know.....the idiocy of DC!!

I read a report the other day that was promoting the idea that Mexico will be the next state to go under.....corrupt to the core and all, increasingly lower standards of living for people, huge chasm between the elites and the peasants. Gee that sounds a lot like the US doesn't it?

Hmmmmmm......now that you mention it, I do have a tingle of deja vu.

Something's up, abraxas.

We'll have to keep our ears to the ground on this one.

I read a report the other day that was promoting the idea that Mexico will be the next state to go under ...

Whoever wrote that doesn't pay much attention to the "workings" of Mexico.

Having lived and work there, I can tell you that they are the most resilient people I have ever had occasion to know. Every day their staples cost a few pesos more and every day it becomes harder and harder to survive. However, this has been going on for so long I think the populace is numb to it.

While I lived and worked there I was stunned by the lack of complaints. The middle class use to complain, so they just did away with Mexico's middle class. Now I wonder if the Mexican Revolution and the following Cristero War may have been enough fighting for them for many years into the future.

We should have kept Mexico when we conquered it and deported all Mexican south of the equator.

"If ever this vast country is brought under a single government, it will be one of the most extensive corruption, indifferent and incapable of a wholesome care over so wide a spread of surface. This will not be borne, and you will have to choose between reform and revolution. If I know the spirit of this country, the one or the other is inevitable." - Thomas Jefferson
