Grocery stores are shutting down because people do not have enough money to buy food. This is not a good social indicator. The government is lying about food costs, unemployment and the recovery. If the real inflation is 5 or 6%, then the GDP is contracting in real terms ans the recession is not over.

Nothing on the shelves but they still have security. Priceless.

There is an area in Indianapolis (you can guess) where all the grocery stores have closed, Kroger being the latest. The only place for the locals to buy food is in the convenience stores where the prices are twice as high. The locals are demanding that city government do something about it. The problem isn't just in California.

My theory is that crime and intimidation caused the closing of the stores. There are daily shootings/killings in the area. You wouldn't be able to hire any decent people to work in an area like that.

With reference to the filming in the vid, it is private property. Permission is needed.
