wow, this is some good stuff. I expected otherwise before I watched it, but the broad almost scared me when i clicked the vid.
According to the video, the mom and dad thought their son was getting a little out of line so they got their kid busted at a party to teach him a lesson. (He was a high school senior).
He was a (1st time offender) but the judge threw the book at him.
The judge was convicted of taking bribes from private incarceration facilities to the tune of 2 million dollars over the years, but not specifically in the case of this young man.
This judge should be strung up !

No shit. Hard telling how many youth are scarred for life by an uncaring system, especially inner-city kids.
Ya know, a lot of the problems developing amongst our youth are related to our economy, taxation and the monetary system making it impossible for most families to get by without both parents working.
Our society is self-destructing because the system in monolithic and we're too busy making a living to properly dscipline our children or correct the system.

According to the video, the mom and dad thought their son was getting a little out of line so they got their kid busted at a party to teach him a lesson. (He was a high school senior).
At 5:16 is where she admits she and her husband knew people in the police dept to go undercover in an underage drinking party. She did it to put the scare in her son.
I would never have done what she did to her son by sending in undercover cops. Of course the kid is going to jail. And I do sense what this judge did was unreasonable punishment. True, this kid was of legal age. When a kid turns 18 they are an adult.
What I really sense is going on here is the mother is transferring the anger from her lack of responsibility as a parent unto the justice system which is not only unfair but to me shows, her lack of parenting skills. It sounds to me like the son did not have a strong father figure around. She feels she is a failure as a parent and to find out her son is drinking at some party has brought shame and embarrassment to the family. She is just as much responsible for the death of her son as the judge is because she admits to sending in those cops to put the “scare” in her son. Well, she scared her son to death and now she regrets it. Frankly, and I know this is cold to say, but she fulfilled her deed. And she will live to pay for it for the rest of her life! True, the judge is wrong. But she (and her husband) are just as much in the wrong!

I was hanging out in bars when I was 15 (and looked 12). I even ran into my parents at a bar during that time period.
I don't know a "normal" 17-18 year old male that hasn't had a few brewskis or gotten shit-faced. Parents should inform their children it's not a good idea but they shouldn't freak out about it either.
I don't know that we got the entire story about the young man in question either.
Having the kid arrested was stupid and I think your right about the lack of parenting skills.
If my kid would have called me from jail after being arrested at a party I'd simply bail him out and tell him how much it cost. (I wouldn't have been the one to call the cops either.)

I do not have any faith in our justice system at all. However, in this instance, I do side with the judge partly. And perhaps there is more to this story than of what this video relays.
I am an objective thinker. My heart does not bleed for this mother. It sounds to me like she had some marriage issues going on because she states on the video that she was not around her husband at the time. This 18 y.o. young man needed a strong father support and his drinking was a telltale sign this kid was crying out for help...not punishment. There are professional counseling services that meet the needs of teenage alcoholics. If the parents were truly sincere in trying to help their son this would not only have probably helped his self-esteem, but he'd still be alive today.

Yeah, I'd agree. The kid has to take some responsibility as well. It isn't like he was a 5 year old, at his age (18) I was in basic training. (Giving Uncle Sambo a chance to kill me).
I did appreciate the mom going off on the crooked judge ! Crooked judges deserve triple jeopardy since they operate from a position of trust. And a judge that takes graft for locking kids up that don't deserve it should be hung for violating minors.

wow, that is crazy. thats not the 1st story where a mom calls the cops on her kid & they oftentimes actually kill the kid. i agree w/ u. what kind of dumbass parent has to call the cops on their little kid?? i had not even watched the whole vid yet.

I would have to disagree here. Logic dictates to me that it was the parents who initiated the cops to come into the party. Of course, underage kids busted by the cops will go to jail.
What the parents should have done is get their son some professional help. Too late now. Due diligence on the part of the parents is key here. And they played a big part in the negligence factor by failing to take an interest in their son's out of control behavior and associations with unsavory peers. It is the job of the parents to supervise the whereabouts of their children...not the courts! The judge was doing his job to prosecute this young man but I do not believe the punishment fitted the offense of this 18 y.o. What the judge should have done is two things:
1. Have the child seek professional help for underage drinking
2. Have the parents get professional help because it appears to be a big issue of negligence on their part that they now want to thrust onto the justice system. And then seek compensatory, maybe even comparative damages, and punitive damages through an attorney paid for by taxpayers for their own stupidity.
Instead, all I see on this video is this woman going ballistic on the judge when remember now...that it was she and her husband who got their son into jail in the first place.

When I first saw her screaming at the judge, I just sat there and watched with no emotion. Then, I watched where she starts telling of how she and her husband knew some cops and got them to infiltrate the party. Unbelievable!
They laughed. I was a very good dancer (like my mom) and they got a kick out of watching me dance. They were surprised that I got into the bar because I really looked young. The neighborhood was pretty rough as were the bars. Of course, I thought it was normal since I hadn't ever been anywhere else.
I frequented another bar (really redneck) during that same period where it was routine to hear bottles and glasses breaking about every 15 minutes because of a fight and the bouncers would stuff a crowd of 20 people through a narrow door putting them outside.
My parents were "the best" ... they could be very strict about some things, but we didn't have any secrets or lies in our house. My old man could not tolerate a lie. He'd say just always tell me the truth and it'll go better for ya than if I ever catch ya lying. I miss them both very much and wish I'd have appreciated them more when they were alive.
