wow, this is some good stuff. I expected otherwise before I watched it, but the broad almost scared me when i clicked the vid.
According to the video, the mom and dad thought their son was getting a little out of line so they got their kid busted at a party to teach him a lesson. (He was a high school senior).
He was a (1st time offender) but the judge threw the book at him.
The judge was convicted of taking bribes from private incarceration facilities to the tune of 2 million dollars over the years, but not specifically in the case of this young man.

At 5:16 is where she admits she and her husband knew people in the police dept to go undercover in an underage drinking party. She did it to put the scare in her son.
I would never have done what she did to her son by sending in undercover cops. Of course the kid is going to jail. And I do sense what this judge did was unreasonable punishment. True, this kid was of legal age. When a kid turns 18 they are an adult.
What I really sense is going on here is the mother is transferring the anger from her lack of responsibility as a parent unto the justice system which is not only unfair but to me shows, her lack of parenting skills. It sounds to me like the son did not have a strong father figure around. She feels she is a failure as a parent and to find out her son is drinking at some party has brought shame and embarrassment to the family. She is just as much responsible for the death of her son as the judge is because she admits to sending in those cops to put the “scare” in her son. Well, she scared her son to death and now she regrets it. Frankly, and I know this is cold to say, but she fulfilled her deed. And she will live to pay for it for the rest of her life! True, the judge is wrong. But she (and her husband) are just as much in the wrong!

I was hanging out in bars when I was 15 (and looked 12). I even ran into my parents at a bar during that time period.
I don't know a "normal" 17-18 year old male that hasn't had a few brewskis or gotten shit-faced. Parents should inform their children it's not a good idea but they shouldn't freak out about it either.
I don't know that we got the entire story about the young man in question either.
Having the kid arrested was stupid and I think your right about the lack of parenting skills.
If my kid would have called me from jail after being arrested at a party I'd simply bail him out and tell him how much it cost. (I wouldn't have been the one to call the cops either.)
They laughed. I was a very good dancer (like my mom) and they got a kick out of watching me dance. They were surprised that I got into the bar because I really looked young. The neighborhood was pretty rough as were the bars. Of course, I thought it was normal since I hadn't ever been anywhere else.
I frequented another bar (really redneck) during that same period where it was routine to hear bottles and glasses breaking about every 15 minutes because of a fight and the bouncers would stuff a crowd of 20 people through a narrow door putting them outside.
My parents were "the best" ... they could be very strict about some things, but we didn't have any secrets or lies in our house. My old man could not tolerate a lie. He'd say just always tell me the truth and it'll go better for ya than if I ever catch ya lying. I miss them both very much and wish I'd have appreciated them more when they were alive.
that is very nice story, thanks for sharing. The bar stories remind me of that patrick swayzee movie from the 80s, i think it was called Roadhouse.These days, the SWAT, BATF, & CPS would conduct a raid if a kid was in a bar.
