Armadillos are foul and most foreign creatures that smell bad, have beady little eyes, even littler brains, and miniscule genitalia. Their favorite activitiy is getting run over by cars. Yech on armadillos!

You are just jealous that, unlike turtles, armadillos have both a tough shell, and have long tails that allow them to hang upside down on a tree branch all day long.
Nine-banded armadillos, of which there are 30 to 50 million in the southeastern U.S., are believed to be the only significant natural reservoir of leprosy apart from humans. (A few cases have been found in chimps and mangabey monkeys in Africa.) How the armadillos got leprosy in the first place nobody knows. But there you are.

Armadillos are used in leprosy research to help people who have it. Rumor has it that research armadillos escaped, and spread it to the natural population.
