JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Republican Sen. John McCain is joining his call urging the release of an American convicted of spying for Israel more than two decades ago.

Netanyahu said in a statement that McCain pledged his support in a phone conversation Thursday.

Jonathan Pollard was an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy when arrested in Washington in 1985. He pleaded guilty to passing secrets to Israel and received a life sentence.

McCain's voice joins those of other U.S. officials, including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and ex-CIA Director R. James Woolsey.

Critics say Pollard has languished in jail far longer than others sentenced for lesser offenses and that he passed on secrets that were supposed to be shared with Israel anyway.

It's OK, John McCain is a national hero, he knows what he's doing.....

John McCain hasn't known what he was doing since they released him the his POW cage.

His impairments have not made a damn thing better for any of us. As for Pollack ... screw him. He needs to die in HIS cage.

And as for Benjamin Netanyahu. He needs to mind his own business before I find a jihadist who is looking for work!!!

I think letting them have Pollard is fine idea, however, they must take the other traitor McCain.

Both betrayed their country, hang "em.

A splendid idea. I would go along with letting them have Pollard if they would take that warmonger McCain too.

I'll throw in a kenyan to seal the deal.

Let's get it done!

Sir Lod...

Mull over what you said.

As things appear now, Obama would lose in 12, would that not be highly embarrassing, and an affirmation of his total lack of ability to be President????

I suspect the system will not go that way.

I'd give the jiz one Pollard, one McKook, one kenyan, for one Ron Paul.

Straight up, no booty, either way.

Sir Lod...

At your age, you will witness a lot of turmoil in your time.

The greatest disappointment for me in 80 years is to realize our government is now our enemy.

War, pestilence and poverty we could overcome or at least manage, but this evil government is now too big, too strong, too willing to crush the masses.
