I've read musings about such a movie, but did not know it was even being filmed. I've read the book, and it will be interesting to see how closely the movie follows it. I'm guessing the John Galt speech will be in part 2.
The release date for part 1 is April 15 2011. The trailer looks pretty good.

They'll have to update it a lot or else it'll be a joke. How can anyone not laugh at some guy named Midas Mulligan?

The people making the movie are very serious about it. It's supposed to follow the book exactly. I can't wait to see it.

Hey, hey, hey, be nice Ragnar Danneskjöld Francisco d'Anconia Railroad and copper tycoons? A 50-page speech by John Galt? Whipping the novel into movie shape is a logistic nightmare.

Looking at the trailer it's in a modern setting but still deals with a railroad, Rearden Metal, etc. Why not? Ayn Rand and her alter ego, Dagne Taggart, were not feminists, per se. Objectivism was the philosophy and it was not gender specific.

Why not?
Typing pools no longer exist, thanks to copy machines and word processors.
