Do you have the ORIGINAL DEED?

I don't, so I checked at the County Office and all they have is a "copy".

Doesn't the raised-seal original deed transfer every time it is bought from lender to lender?

If push comes to shove hold them to it, they can't have it both ways. You can't be held responsible for failure to overcome official subterfuge. Not in any meaningful system anyway.

The Lawyer's name on it has the title "Esquire" after it, that's title of Nobility under the Queen.

As your attorney I advise you to hang them as spies. :)

I'm thinking of going to the police and claiming "stolen property", since I don't posses the original.

How far will that go?

As long as you understand I'm just kidding I say Go For It!

On a serious note, I think it's BS that 'legal' documents you were coerced into securing can be ignored by those that demanded you possess them in the first place. They are changing the rules in the middle of the game.

I thought we were techincal serfs, That the state always and forever owns our properties.

That is why they can forclose on our homes if we don't pay our property tax right?

Because even though we paid for home and land they still own it at the end of the day.

Fucked up but true right?

That's a fairly common problem. The bank took the deed, at the time of a mortgage, and never returned it. If it was your bank and your mortgage, you should go to the bank. However, the US banks merged many mortgages and deeds into one financial instrument and sold it to get more money than they get in interest from the buyers.

Very few people have an 'original document.' Actually a new copy is created each time the property changes hands, which replaces the old copy, and each is recorded at the county courthouse. There are new buyers and sellers each time it changes hands.
