Home : News : 12-year-old genius takes aim as disproving Einstein's Theory of Relativity

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - What were you doing when you were 12 years old?

Playing video games? Dreaming of winning a Heisman Trophy? Maybe starting to show a little interest in a significant other?

It’s probably safe to say you weren’t taking on Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

Well, that’s what 12-year-old Jake Barnet, of Hamilton County, Indiana, is proposing. Jake has become somewhat of an Internet star thanks to YouTube videos of his ideas about mathematics and physics, which his mom shoots and posts online.

In one of the most recent videos, Jake discusses Einstein’s Theory of relativity, explaining in the description why he might have a different theory:

“My initial perception from this is that light does have mass,” Jake writes. “Obviously, energy coming out of a system where light is emitted could not be conserved otherwise. You can correct me later if I change my mind, but for the moment this is my perception.”

Jake has a mild form of autism, according to http://Time.com, and he also has an I.Q. of 170. He taught himself calculus, algebra and geometry in two weeks and graduated high school at the age of eight. He has been attending college-level physics classes since then.

The channel with all of his videos has thousands of hits.

well I really think the answer will be quantum tunneling. They have already managed to accede exceed the speed of light, sort of, by using a quantum tunnel.

'We have broken speed of light'

The Pentagon announced TODAY the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces (USRSF) These boys will be dropped off in Afghanistan and have been given only the following facts about terrorists: 1. The season opened today. 2. There is no limit. 3. They taste just like chicken. 4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus .... 5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt. The Pentagon expects the problem in Afghanistan to be over by Friday.

With all of your high-powered knowledge whats with your use of "accede" (rather than exceed)?

I like your URL conversion. How do you do it?

Light-speed travel is really academic. Wouldn't be able to avoid crashing into solid objects in space, black holes.

Late at night, tired. Had a migraine yesterday that wouldn't go away. Messes with my thought processes. And I can't spell worth a darn. I know a PhD in orbital mechanics that can't spell either but damn he can do math. Once I used succeed when I meant to use secede. Happens. I've gotten better with Firefox's built in spell checker but sadly it won't catch wrong word use. I do know the difference but I don't always catch it.

I'll add spaces. I know there is a code you can use so you can post it normal and have it show up but I don't remember it. I also seem to be the only one on this forum who does proper blockquoting when quoting more than once.

There is also a theoretical particle called the tachyon which exists only at velocities greater than "c".

As well other thoughts on getting around the speed of light limitations, although I suspect but cannot prove that it is not a limit, would be to change the vibrational state of matter shifting it into an out of phase condition with the physical universe somewhere between this universe and one of the parallel ones and thus sidestepping collisions with matter in the extant universe. That also suggests a possibility of change vector orientation and thus effectively shortening the distance between two points in this universe by transiting through another at an angle to this one.

That's all well and good, but I think a ship at 1G acceleration traveling out into the cosmos for a one year mission would reveal a LOT about what we need to know about star travel.

[1 year mission if robotic]
[4 year mission if manned (need to slow down, turn around, and come back]

If it were impossible, then many things we take for granted today wouldn't exist. GPS navigation is one of those things.

The majority of people can't understand the abstract concepts inherent in the theory of relativity. So, they fall back on common man thinking and simply say it's impossible, since they can't understand it.

Here you are wrong. The majority of people accept the theory of relativity. NONE understand it, they just ACCEPT it.

Parroting what others have said is not understanding anything or knowing anything.

Although we may already have the technology.

The late Mr. Northrop, founder of Northrop Aviation, is supposed to have commented to a small group at a dinner party "we have the technology but they won't let us go". Who "they" is remains unknown.

Another more recent was the former head of the "Skunk Works" making a similar comment to his son while he was in the hospital. That we already have the technology but that it is buried deep in "black" world super secrecy.

I think it obvious it can be done. All of those visitors who stop by aren't getting here on their skateboards.

So you believe in aliens despite not ever seeing them? You trust others accounts on this matter? You don't trust the government about anything, but you trust that we have been visited by aliens because of unprovable rumors? Everyone should think for themselves like this boy is doing. Don't believe anything just because you have heard it, even if it comes from people you trust, they could be sincerely wrong.

I'm not interested in debating it but not because there is not a substantial body of evidence. Just because the government started a PsyOp in the 50's telling people they aren't seeing what they are seeing is no more factual than "Alice Through the Looking Glass".

The flash was not an explosion. Also, if you REALLY look at it, the lights were alternating flashes as they descended, and it appears that there were THREE spheres, with one stopping when it came down into a cloud, whereas the other two continued their descent.

You need to have an open mind to this sort of thing if you're going to get a clear idea of what you're looking at. If you already have decided something is impossible before you truly look at it, then no matter what you see, it will be a hoax in your eyes.

Well NOW I just did, you DO appear to be VERY easily offended and begin acting like a huge drama queen whenever someone tries to point out something to you as to why you are wrong.

I'll say it again...

You need to have an open mind to this sort of thing if you're going to get a clear idea of what you're looking at. If you already have decided something is impossible before you truly look at it, then no matter what you see, it will be a hoax in your eyes.

The story always has to be about YOU doesn't it.

Then, to you, what does it look like?

It looks like the Hindenburg.

The Hindendburg was Cigar Shaped not half of an oblate spheroid.

What does an extraterrestrial craft look like?

Ok let me qualify that. It looks terrestrial therefore I have a hard time leaping to the extraterrestrial explanation.

In what way does it look terrestrial? Its shape is not even a close resemblance to a Zeppelin. I'm an airship afficianado I know what they look like and that IS NOT an airship.

As well the flash of light is NOT characteristic - and a green tinge is not common in natural phenomena as it is a very narrow spectral band. For example Green Stars are so rare, in part because of the way our eyes work, as to be notable in the unusual circumstance where one is identified. I don't pretend to know what the flash is, or the falling stuff, but I can say it does not look like a natural phenomena.

UFO's are not a matter of belief they are simply a matter of being willing to look at what is there rather than trying to explain it away.

Remember The White Rose
"“Believe nothing merely because you have been told it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

I contacted one of my science friends for his opinion. (so much for not having an open mind) I wasn't sure but he does speak Portuguese fluently. Anyway, here is part of what he had to say and a related video.

I have lived in Brazil and speak Portuguese fluently. The anchors are speaking about this video that is in YouTube and is attracting the attention of people in Sao Paulo. My impression is that it is an UFO, and that it is not Brazilian made. I don't know if is made by the USA or other country, but in that case, what is the device doing in Sao Paulo state? They don't need secret airships to scrutinize Brazil. They have satellites for doing that without being exposed to public video cameras.

In this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9_Z8QIkUAg&feature=related you can see a better image, with higher contrast and image stabilization, and if you pause the video when the lights appears inside the cloud you'll notice three clear light sources. How the UFO disappeared or what are those two lights falling, I don't know. I am not an alien so I cannot imagine what process was going there.

That in no way proves the absurd theory of relativity.

Actually the theory has been completely tested, and it agrees with observation to a high level of accuracy.
Time dilation and universal speed limit have been tested with particle accelerators.

Time dilation and universal speed limit have been tested with particle accelerators.

Thing is about the "universal speed limit" is that those particles were accelerated by magnets operating at our rest speed. So in relation to the velocity of the force exerted by a stationary source, they could only go so fast.

However, it is my theory that if the particles could propel themselves on their own, they could surpass that "speed limit".

How do we even know how fast the solar system is traveling through space, or how fast the galaxy is moving through the Universe? What if we are traveling faster than light and don't even know it?

To expand on that idea, wouldn't light travel slower in relation to earth when traveling in our direction of travel than in the other direction, if we are in fact moving through space-time at some incredible speed, which we are?

Of course it doesn't. That said, it all depends on the reference point from which you wish to measure the velocity. If you are traveling at X speed, you should still be able to accelerate to c * X, and still accelerate past that to whatever speed you wished, since the reference point will always be your ship.
