Marc Schenker Jesse Ventura says TSA should stop searching only him, but continue searching everyone else. Jesse Ventura will be on CNN’s Piers Morgan show this upcoming Monday, and Morgan provided a preview of some very attention-getting scenes with the former governor. Ventura has a new book out, which explains his appearance tomorrow, but the appearance will also give him a chance to revisit one of his recent, surprising actions. Three months ago, Ventura sued the TSA and Janet Napolitano’s Homeland Security because he asserts that he is very unlikely to be a terrorist, simply because he is Jesse Ventura. He still wants everyone else to be searched in all kinds of awkward bodily cavities, just not him. I don’t watch Morgan, since Hannity’s clearly so much better and on in the same timeslot, but this upcoming interview with Ventura appears to be startling at best, funny at the very least. Of course, it has nothing to do with the host—Morgan sometimes speaks his accented, British English in such a way to make you ask yourself, “What did he just say???!”—but everything to do with Ventura, who is a conspiracy theorist at best and a crackpot at the very least. Readers will recall that Ventura is a 9/11 Truther, meaning that he seriously believes that the US actually attacked itself on 9/11. To still have this Neanderthal-like view up to now, when it has been debunked by authoritative sources like Popular Mechanics, is beyond the pale. According to the former governor (who, apparently, is also still full-time in his wrestling character of Jesse “The Body” Ventura), he is suing the TSA and Napolitano (his lawsuit is still pending at this time…good luck with getting that to move quicker) because he’s offended that the TSA thinks that he could possibly carry a bomb on an airplane with him! After all, he’s been the former governor of Minnesota and a former Navy Seal! And, furthermore, what could be more reassuring than permitting a hardcore conspiracy theorist onto a plane in the US without fully patting him down?! While Ventura’s position sounds elitist, I hate to agree with him. Clearly, he’s not going to be a very likely candidate for bringing terrorist-style equipment with him on a plane. That scandalous distinction naturally belongs to Muslim men because everyone who’s been caught planning attacks on the US in relationship to radical Islam has been…wait for it…a Muslim. Still, Ventura’s elitism is noted because if he argues that he shouldn’t be searched because of who he is, then most Americans and other nationalities can also argue the exact same thing, mainly because they’re not Islamic. In the Morgan interview preview, two of the most awkward moments—awkward as in humiliating for Ventura—came when he was challenged by Morgan to assert who should be profiled. Ventura chickened out, when the only acceptable response by him should have been Muslim men. This avoidance of the question prompted Morgan to call Ventura a coward, which provoked one of the stupidest-sounding, pro-wrestler type laughs I have ever had the displeasure of hearing! Suddenly, Ventura began trying to scare Morgan, kind of pathetically claiming that he’s done a lot of things that would make the host’s hair stand on end. Sure, and I’m the Queen of England. Ventura’s TSA lawsuit brings to the forefront again how the focus of the TSA in their searches is all wrong. They should do profiling and focus more on Muslims, especially when the stats and the history support that. As for Ventura, I still think he’s a big, giant joke, but he’s got a point just on this issue.
